I haven't seen Jo Rice for ages either.. wonder where she's dissapeared to- moved to another channel or region perhaps?

Speaking of which, where did erstwhile CNE anchor Kevin Ashford go to?

Well i saw central news for the 1st time in age and well there have been a few small changes. 1. The presenters i just noticed Marie ashby on the EMT website when did she make that shock move? I like the whole "This is central news at six " thing as well." Steve Clamp seems to be doing well for himself there. I'm not sure of that woman preswenting she seemed a bit pants.

Marie Ashby defected to the BBC a little while back now. She doesn't present EMT all that often. She mainly does the East Midlands opt-out of The Politics Show. She generally seems to just be a filler-in if Ann or Dominic is off. Whenever Marie and Dominic do EMT together, it feels like CNeast on the wrong channel!

Steve Clamp's usual CNeast co-anchor is Sameena Ali-Kahn. She used to do Midlands Today weekend teatime bulletins a year or two ago. And Steve used to be present the sports section of 6:30pm Midlands Today.

Marie Ashby presents EMT each Friday, nusually with Dominic. She hasn't filled in on any other days up to yet.

Also interestingly, Sameena Ali-Kahn presented some EMT bulletins a few years ago (including the main programme with Dominic on a couple of occasions a few summers ago, 2003 I think).

These regional newsreaders get about a bit don't they (in terms of channels and location I mean!).

Anybody know why CNE at 11am was presented in a different studio than from the usual CNE studio? The one used this morning had no background projection, just the new ITV News colour-scheme. Also CNW reporter Tom Parmenter was presenting it, when he has never done it before (he was quite good actually)

Any idea why these things were done?!

Anne Davies does sometimes mention at the end of EMT that she will be on Radio Leicester the following morning.

I have heard rumour that Central News East maybe going on strike soon, because ITV management are proposing to scrap the four-day week. I'm not sure if this affects all the ITV News areas, or if all ITV regional news operations will go on strike.

Does anyone know/think so?

I notice that they have changed the image on the projector screen. It now shows Nottingham. Also the screen was used for the top story tonight, the first time this screen has been used in this way. Also different camera angles are being used from today, making the backing on the sofa seem smaller.

moogtastic - you asked where Kevin Ashford went to. He now presents Central's local programmes and thats it. I believe he and Marie basically walked when Central moved to Birmingham. I remember when they advertised for new presenters in mediaguardian.

I've noticed a few comments about how good and bad the presenters are. I think too many people are being nice on here. They are both terrible. The worst in the country! The show is awful too. It makes EMT look like CNN!!

The backdrop is of Sneinton area of Nottingham, Green's Mill can be seen to the right of the screen. Prefer it to the Leicester one... they've still got a obsession with ugly tower blocks though.

The programme has sadly declined, made on a shoestring budget these days-- too many 'Trisha Trash' style stories.

I think the CNE presenters don't do a bad job, considering what they have to work with. Steve and Sameena are OK; as are their deputies Gareth and Lucy-- and the sports presenter David. James Wright when he does the occasional news bulletin is amusingly wry.

Haven't really seen that much of other ITV regional news programmes. Bob Warman over at CNW is certainly a hard act to follow. I can pick up Calendar off Belmont, and I find that is reasonable. Duncan Wood is certainly a good presenter.

Not a fan of EMT, a lot of the presenters and reporters seem to have had a charisma bypass; in contrast Anne Davies is way OTT and highly irritating. Sorry Anne but you are.

I don't get how Anne and dom work together he is often miserable and the set is stale and quite hoonestly pants. Isnm't it about time they updated those dated credits too?? I like Anne with Quentin though he's rather good> he did vanish for quite a while but then he sudenlt re appeared when Dominic was off ill. Don't catch EMT much but well its not that great compared to Midlands Today or North West Today, for example
