I wonder if Central News South is somehow being squeezed into Central Court as well, bearing in mind they moved out of their studio about a month ago and yesterday revealed their new studio, compete with the new ITV branding.

Could it be that CNS is going to move into CNE's studio in Birmingham and that the CNE set/studio shown above is a new one (possibly built using some old CNS kit moved up from Abingdon)?

The time that South have been in their newsroom could be explained by the fact that it would take time to move kit to Birmingham and install a new studio there (rather than just the cosmetic move of a new set which would have taken a week).

Just a theory obviously - and I hope I'm not right, but it all seems to be a bit coincidental.

I think if they were doing that it would have been mentioned in industry press with unions demanding answers and guarentees that jobs won't be lost etc.

Well there was no wide shot or any panning out at the end of CNEasts morning update There were only 2varying shots a tight close up then a side shot of the plasma.

I knew it coudn't be the foyer, beacuse we all know what the Central Brum foyer looks like, from when CNwest was there, during summer 2004 (see pics here).

Any idea as to why?

Perhaps they are having a proper screen put into the set, one of the few regions without one aren't they ?

Yeah, just CN East and Meridian. Even Border has a rear projection screen!

I think this may be happening too. i also am wondering if it is not the studio which is chnging, could there be a technical update taking place within the studio, so they can broadcast in widescreen?

I thought there was no space for a projection screen.

Widescreen would require the OB equipment to be upgraded, not just studio equipment...

But they wouldn't need to close the studio to upgrade OB equipment.

Indeed.

But there must be a reason for decamping to the meeting room. We just don't know what.
