CBS News Updates Weekend news intro to follow the new network branding. Additionally the saturday network newscast now originates solely from its Chicago Bureau at affiliate WBBM. Looks good. CBS took over WBBM local news DTL position in their newsroom. The backwall is actually just windows but has been covered in a logo'ed backdrop that used to feature CBS2 logo's and the huge CBS Logo. CBS Network news simplified by using a back drop with just the new deconstructed eye logo and adding the CBS News Walter Cronkite map panels and they readjusted their lighting and added their eye logo panel as you can see that was simply stuck on the end of the assignment desk just behind the anchor position. As well as changing the workstation monitors with the news CBS logos panels. Ohh CBS so simple yet effective on air. They are so cheap its hilarious. But it works.

YOu can watch here on CBS News website.

The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the intro was "ding, dong, ding". And also, you couldn't even get your own desk? Nice try hiding the social media handle (unless they weren't)

Has the Evening News received this new intro yet?

I don't think so, the Evening News has different titles than the rest of CBS's news output, so they wouldn't change their titles.

Its never seen on tv anyway. The shot is completely locked down. There is one quick zoom at the beginning as the headline sequence starts and thats it. I believe WBBM, whose newsroom CBS took over uses this position for the CBSN local channel and their newsroom reports and also sometimes their weekend newscasts. The front of the desk is never shown on those broadcasts either. Its completely of shot.
YOu can watch CBSN Chicago online and their using this set right now with the same background. No change.

what
It matches the network’s rather nice new on-air look, which is something I’ve been hoping the US networks would do for some time.

May I also point out that despite knowing already that CBS and ATV had similar logos, I did not realize the shape of ATV's eye was in CBS's until now!

This debuted yesterday, so maybe there will be an update tonight.

Here’s one peculiarity WBBM airs news on Saturdays at 5PM, CBS Weekend News tapes at 5PM.

For some unknown reason ABC and CBS both record their weekend bulletins at 6PM as opposed to 6:30PM ET like they do on the weekdays. I believe on Sundays CBS EN is required to be at 6PM ET.

CBS Evening News is usually pre-empted in the East and Central time zones, so only the western half of the country would see it at 6 EST (or is it pre-recorded for all non-EST timezones.

Usually goes out on Saturday. On Sundays some CBS stations have I believe there maybe at times when certain parts of the country will have a single NFL game while the others have a double header which would preempt the EN. I believe it’s recorded for the western half.

It's more like CBS' eye was in the ATV logo.
