The first images of the soon-to-return CBS This Morning have been released

A close look at the set shows some nice nostalgic touches, ie., the multiple and varied instances of the CBS Eye, the old-CBS microphone. It also ties in with the reports that the set would 'echo' that of Morning Joe.

Not too sure on the logo - it doesn't quite sit right (although I do like the font). Again, it's sticking to a blue background (see the display on the TV screen).

Completely agree. I'll be very interested to see how this pans out on screen. There were also reports this week that it could (note, 'could' in the sense of 'we've not yet decided either way') stream live online.

Interesting they've had Nora on the Evening News. I assume she's in line to replace Bob if he decides to retire or leave at some point at Face the Nation. At 74, it wouldn't be unfair for them to be looking to the future.

She is the main fill-in on Face the Nation, so seems rather clear what CBS are considering for the future

Was he not the weekend anchor a few years ago before moving to Early Show?

He was the Saturday anchor for the CBS Evening News, with Russ Mitchell doing Sundays, before they opted for Russ as a single weekend anchor.

I wonder who will take the Saturday spot? Interesting they've moved back to a different anchor on Saturdays and Sundays, after a year or so of NBC, ABC and CBS all having a single anchor at weekends.

I'm pretty sure I saw Jim Axelrod doing a weekend shift not that long ago. That could be something CBS might want to implement as he was actually very good.

Thanks for that. It'll be interesting to see what the new studio is like in full - it's part of/ next to the new newsroom, isn't it? I wonder if that will be visible on screen, perhaps in the way the MSNBC newsroom is on Morning Joe. It will also be interesting to see how the new team work together. At least they're trying something new (and, from what I've read and heard, 'something new' to Chris Licht isn't the same as 'something new' was to ITV and Daybreak's editor, which is good).

I want to see how the audience cope, they're up in arms that the Early Show is changing again and doing the Daybreak style judgements before it started.

Interestingly I'm informed it's not just a front of camera and editorial overhaul, a lot of staff have been replaced, including former the CBS Interactive producer, they want a new way of delivering their show and that means sacking people!

The new newsroom isn't in 47, at all - 47 being on the first floor, so it's a new newsroom for the programme - I gather there are plans, if successful to move the Evening into a set attached to the new newsroom...

Oh, soundtrack is nice too - think CBS News only, classier...
