Sounds like The Early Show is going to try and become a cable morning news show on network television.

‘The Early Show’ Leaving GM Building for CBS Broadcast Center, New Studio to Have Different Look
...The new “Early Show” set will look very different than both NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and the employee workspace will have a layout that CBS News has not traditionally used. One attendee of the meeting said that [Chris Licht, former EP of Morning Joe]'s influence was apparent in the mockups, saying that the workspace was reminiscent of MSNBC’s newsroom design and layout...

I'll wait to pass judgement, but it does strike me when networks like CBS or ITV struggle with morning shows, they try something to revolutionary that sinks them even lower. Like replacing their entire onscreen team, moving to 'state of the art studios' and trying too hard to be different to the competition.

Charlie Rose, Gayle King to Headline New CBS Morning News

After much talk, first in Page Six, CBS News is bringing on Charlie Rose and Gayle King to front a revamped and, likely, renamed CBS morning news show.

An announcement is expected Tuesday, sources tell TVNewser.

The current anchors Erica Hill and Jeff Glor, who were named co-anchor and news anchor less than a year ago, will play a role in the new morning program.

Misinformed article; CBS Morning News airs 0530ET-0600ET, it's never been part of TES.

Actually, it does sound like this pairing will be for the 'Early Show' replacement - much talk of Charlie Rose anchoring the 7am hour alongside Erica Hill, who already hosts 'The Early Show'. Gayle King will anchor the 8am hour, the article goes on to say.

Also, NBC 'Today Show' EP Jim Bell has said that they will take CBS' changes seriously, and watch what happens.

Not forgetting, the new morning show will be hosted from a complete new studio being built between two existing CBS Broadcast Centers. The article also goes on to say that the new programme will be much like MSNBC's 'Morning Joe'.

They're calling it that because they're expecting 'The Early Show' branding will be dropped when it's relaunched.

Yeah KPIX in the West airs CBS Morning News at 4am PT, then CBS 5 Early Edition, then it goes CBS 5 Eyewitness News until 7am PT. The Morning News as far as I can remember was never part of TES.

Actually, the CBS Morning News was a predeccesor to The Early Show. The current CBS Morning News, which airs at 4am ET, was derived from the CBS Early Morning News. But you are correct in saying that it isn't a part of The Early Show. In fact, the same team that produces Up To The Minute overnight also produces the CBS Morning News.

Anyone know how long 'Up to the Minute' has had a 'London Comment' feature? When browsing the CBS News site, I was surprised to see the BBC's Jon Sopel is a regular commentator.
