I looked closer but i dont see a lighting rig. I do see a plethora of suspended tv's.?! Can you describe where you see the studio lighthing? It would be exciting if they did move back into a proper newsroom. I dont like Studio57 for Evening News seems to casual and i dont the lighting. Seems dungeon-ey. But it looks fine for CBS This Morning with the brighter lighting.
And remember one CNN moved down to Studio7 they completely updated the main newsroom at CNN Center. They occasionally used a DTL position. But its never seen on air air. Not even an overhead "beauty" shot. So just because they they are redoing it, doesnt mean its being redone for air. Also remember CBS had its newsroom split up all over the place. So maybe now there is no studio functioning in the space they can get everyone together. And the newsroom they use for CBSN is getting relocated to this spot as well. Will be interesting to see the changes on air at CBSN if any.

And here's the finished product. They're calling it the "CBS News Hub."
I guess I was wrong — it doesn't look like any piece of this is made for on-air. I really thought they would at least put a flashcam in a corner or something. CBSN and the Morning News would have looked a lot nicer coming from here than the current setup.

Glor says this is the original Cronkite map, but is it? It looks more like the replica version they made for the old set when Scott Pelley took over.
The crew has done a wonderful job over the years maintaining and refurbishing the map that sat behind Cronkite. It now hangs prominently in new newsroom. pic.twitter.com/VlQqomDAyg
Also, the Evening News used the new Washington studio for the first time this week. They swapped out the Face the Nation desk with one that matches the Studio 57 table.

Reportedly, the original Cronkite map was refurbished and sits on one of the walls of Studio 57. There's no word yet if CBSN will use this newsroom on air yet.
I meant to share this the other day. Well WJZ the CBS owned station in Baltimore is getting its first new set in almost 20 years. Needless to say they’re excited and have been running promos. It’s the same design as the KCBS/WCBS sets complete with an on air green room. They’ll also be launching the new CBS Graphics package.
Oh dear, the current ones are pretty bad. Seems you can have your text two ways:
Stretched on TV...
...or squished on mobile.
As for "Drone 13", gimme a break.
The app thankfully doesn’t look like that. It’s a white label app that was probably done as a bulk deal with WSI. WJZ just probably has a way to push video to it.
And Drone 13 is used like once a month and usually recorded. It probably recorded most of their opens. The station has a helicopter that’s in the air every afternoon. For some reason it switches from mainly SD to occasionally HD. I don’t know the reason why as it can vary within the same day. Maybe it’s being sent to different Rx sites that may not handle HD (despite having trucks I’ve seen a lot of live shots use Dejeros even while they are assigned a truck).

WJZ have launched their new O&O set and graphics at noon (local). However, they have kept Chroma Cues and the production music they were already using.
KTVU, the Fox station for the San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose market, just unveiled its rejigged second floor studio that overlooks the Oakland Estuary and Alameda Island. This studio has been off air for the better part of a year. The downstairs studio is now currently getting a new set.
Here's what the set looked like before. It was a much more thrown together sort of thing in a smaller footprint. This screencap is darker because is this from their 7pm news.
KTVU has always been a very buttoned up afilliate. And it was it was interesting when FOX bought the station. Many thought FOX would FOX-ify it. They have been very restrained it seems. They were allow to keep their logo and it most cases its not paired with the FOX logo.
I do think that main anchor desk is a touch of brilliance, elegantly incorporating the 2 logo and the bridge cables to add local design touch. But the upstairs studio leaves the space open and generic for whatever they need after the main downstairs studio is complete.
