Also the Guardian did a piece as well.

Not sure if TBS has geo-blocked Samantha Bee's Show Full Frontal

WBBM Chicago 2 CBS is finally leaving behind their streetside studio and secretly built a new set in their upstairs studio. This follows the mandated look from KCBS - LA, WFOR Miami sets yet slightly modified. Looks good and is a long time coming for the long suffering CBS O&O

WBBM's new set looks pretty good - a vast improvement on what they currently have. I'm guessing WCBS's new set will look similar.

Weeters over at TVNT insinuated that the sets been there for a few months and will be unused for a while. I believe the office block area is known as Block 37 and for years took a while to be develop (and still is unfinished). I'm not exactly clear how but I assume through tax cuts the city signed a contract with WBBM to have and use a streetside studio. It is believed the time frame is for ten years. WBBM moved into the property in September 2008.

If you read the thread some people think they may be able to satisfy the contract by having some shows done from the old studio. Posters also describe how the current set went to can.

Edit : This is what the building looked like in January during the inauguration. An AP photographer took it and NPR used it in an article on Trump and Chicagos crime troubles. As you can see the video boards damaged (the design was much more impressive with it at a corner of the building with panels going 80 feet on each side.)

Emerson College debuted its new set. The College and Newscast studio posted a pics of the new college station new set. I think its really impressive for a small studio. Its quite a small studio space and it looks quite decent.

Here's the finished WFOR, the CBS owned station in Miami, set. It matches the other CBS O&O sets that have launched. Amazing at how much they can fit in such a small studio. The set will debut on Monday at Noon.

KARK the Nexstar owned NBC station in Arkansas debuted a new set. Fun Fact: they provide news for the local Fox affiliate and the Fox set was at the other side of the studio untouched. Supposedly it's getting an upgrade next year.

I was going to embed the photos directly from Facebook. However it appears I can't directly link to an image I will point you to a post showing you the new set.

Looks like a decent set aside from that desk in the corner that seem to be standard for new Nexstar sets. I don't think that circle with the peacock eteched in will look good on camera.

Here is a video of the new look with the new graphics package.

Frankly IMO the Nexstar stations have the worst station group sets. They are soo bad. The desk it hideous and the backdrops always seem to be collection of various textures, bricks, duras all thrown together. Like it was a bunch of left overs.

I just realized I didn't link to an image of the other desk it has a five person capacity and a LED front. I can't find it as their FB seems to be filled with useless content.

Edit : Here we go. Not the best desk but certainly better than the one in the corner.

KFOR 4 Oklahoma City. KFOR has built a new reinforced new studios with this concrete walls and steel to protect staff also will allow the channel to continue to broadcast in the event of tornado out breaks which affect the city yearly. They also launched with a new name, graphics, studio and music. Formerly known as Newschannel4 its new name is Oklahoma News 4. I really like this look and the openplan newsroom. They retained portions of the previous graphic feel the signature blue and the glassy 4. But they enclosed the 4 in red box. Which i really like. The set is very moern without a hint of dark wood. Well done to KFOR and hopefully when SInclair takes over the Tribune stations they wont mess with their look too much.

Here is link to the article on the station website.

The new studios really put the weather front and central to its broadcasts. Pics from KFOR.com

Sinclair won't mess with the set but they will mess with the message.

I like KFOR's new set - although Tribune are somewhat inconsistent with their upgrades.

This one looks great, as does KTLA's and quite a few of their other stations to get new sets recently. However, WGN in Chicago and WPIX in New York - both in the top 3 TV markets - have been given much cheaper-looking sets.
