KMTV 3 CBS - Omaha Nebraska - There are no words to describe this ....whatever it is. Its a shockingly bad virtual set...

You sure it's not the 'get you started' backdrop preloaded into their Tricaster ? Very Happy

What I want to know if it's tracking or if it's just a series of locked off shots.

You mean whether it's a proper VR set with camera tracking and live-rendered backdrops tied to camera motion, or a fake VR solution that is essentially just a bunch of locked-off cameras with fixed position cameras and either static backdrops, or possibly some DVE zooms / fake wide shots with the keyed camera shrunk into a fake 'huge wide shot'.

KPRC 2 HOUSTON - The station has relocated to their new building next door and the old building will be pulled down. The newroom is large and airy the new set is really really nice. It has yet debut their new set on air. Elements of it are familiar as its almost like a larger version of the KSAT 12 set. The one with the corner screen. It looks really good. Very clean and modern.

WFLD Chicago FOX 32 - Image leak. This set bears no resemblence to the FOX sets that debuted. From this shot it looks very white. Not sure about the 'lines' around the top. I hope that "skyline' image on the video is not the the one they will use. Its horrible and geographically incorrect. Im sure it will be a topic of discussion if it is used. The anchor area looks interesting and white. Almost Al-Jazeera-esque.....maybe. Strange mix of materials. I see blonde wood on the far left and maybe faux stone around the monitor. Not sure who thought those spot lights above the monitor was a good idea. That looks horrible. Will be interesting to see that whole thing though. Looks bright and modern. The brightest of all the Chicago sets. Apparently according to FTVLIVE.COM its been designed by DEVLIN. A very different look from that shop.

WFLD - Fox 32 Chicago Finally debuted their new set. Its completely different from any other FOX O&O set that has debuted in the past few years. The lighting its pretty good. The set features a large sweeping newswall that is similar to ABC rival WLS set that debuted a few years ago. Whilst there are some elements I certianly dont like those oddly placed spotlights, I do like the set over all. Which is hard to say for a FOX set. The main desk and podium is certainly unqiue. It almost reminds of an Al Jazeera modern set. Again, unforunately these sets are lumbered with the hideous FOX mandate graphics.

The main anchor lighting is pretty flawless.

NBC is bringing the San Diego Telemundo affiliate in house (previously was operated by a Mexican television station). The station launches July 1. They posted a picture of the set. It essentially is a duplicate of the KNSD one.

Now that is nice some and clean. They love a bit of wood. But its not over kill. But i suspect that the walls will end up being blue when the actual broadcasts starts. Seems move Telemundo affiliates have their walls blue instead of any other colour. nice set thought. I prefer the 'virtual window' instead of the screen array. Looks good.

Yes the virtual window does look better. It's much more believable (if it can be) with vertical panes rather than having the mullions like bricks stacked.

KPHO, the CBS station in Phoenix, launched a new set. The set features part of the CBS Eye with the catwalk forming circular portion and the pupil serving as a rostrum for the desk.

Here's two videos of the time lapse of the construction. The first video is almost 18 minutes and the second is 12 minutes long - definitely worth scrubbing through the video.

Having trouble editing my previous post (my iPad can be finicky on this site). But Greta Van Sustren posted an image on her Instagram saying a new studio is under construction. Now I'm not sure if it's her normal studio (the one with the stone motif, that's used for network shows and was home to ITV's election night coverage) getting a new set or a completely new one. Looking at her image I don't see that big corner column.

She's currently using the cramped studio (which could also suggest they're redoing the main one).
