At long last, KGO in San Francisco has a new set (and graphics too)...

More pics here: https://forums.tvnewstalk.net/index.php?threads/new-set-coming-to-kgo.15455/page-4

Some of the shots look a bit similar to the old set, which also used a live shot of the Bay Bridge as the main background. And not sure about the wooden planks on the walls.

But a vast improvement on what they had before.

I actually like this better than the KABC set. Too bad WABC got stuff with their hideous new graphics. Not sure about the wood either.

WBZ 4 - CBS Boston
The new set from WBZ just premiered. Surprising amount of wood. Looks like a refresh with a new desk. Ehhh

Should be worth noting that shortly after the sets debut in late 2011 they updated it less than a year later to include the 5x3 monitor wall and the two side monitors.

KDEN 29 Telemundo - I love this set. Its very small. But so clean without being boring and its not overly complicated and the colour changing walls make it dynamic.

Newscast studio has posted pics of the new GMA audio set. UGH.. Its nice but I hate the idea of an audience. I dont think the tables with blue tables cloths are permanent features. I think its just for the Dancing With the Stars announcement. Still.....

It looks a bit better here...

I'm not a fan of the studio audience either - it reminds me a bit of CBS This Morning in the mid 90s. At least they still use the downstairs studio for other parts of the show - although their original decision to consolidate on the ground floor to save money has obviously gone out the window.

Could it be the audience are their for the DWTS announcements. I can imagine you'd want some studio atmosphere for that kind of item.

No the audience is a new feature to fight off competition from TODAY and the resurgent CBS THIS MORNING. They have 2 studios. One upstairs. That one will likely get used for "serious" (Ha!) pieces and news updates. For the fluffy stuff (90%), Id imagine they will be in the audience studio.

CBS News is growing by leaps and bounds. Love it. Serious news still wins audiences. Exemplified by the ratings for 60 Minutes and the growth of CBS Evening News and This Morning. ABC News division is a lost cause IMO. World News Tonight is joke even more under David Muir.

Sad, given the great heritage of Peter Jennings.

That's not a million miles away from the set of The View. Shame they couldn't double up.

Apparently this upstairs set is designed to be used for multiple broadcasts and uses, hence the reason you dont see any hard branding on the set. With the direction of ABC's news division, i wouldnt be surprised if they reformatted World News Tonight by having an audience surrounding David Muir as he presented the lastest viral video, they are half way there any way.
