News13 - Orlando, FL. The 24hr local news channel, thats sister to cable channel, BayNews9 - Tampa, FL also recently relaunched with a similar, but smaller set to its sister channel. No graphics changes. According to Florida News Centre it can able to be used as a back-up site for hurricane evacs from Tampa's BayNews9 studios if needed. They set does not have an in studio weather center. It originates from another location.

Similar to sister station BayNews9 the walls turn red when they are covering breaking news.

That's one of the nicer sets I've seen you post here. Fairly simple and all the better for it. I guess though it's only set up for a single anchor format, though I guess if they rotated the desk it would work with two.

News13 is the local 24 hr news channel for Orlando. So if you are visiting Disney or Universal you can watch it. Regarding News13(Orlando) and BayNews9(Tampa Bay) are both owned by cable company BrightHouse Networks and originally created by TimeWarner cable eventually being sold off. And they both run a tight wheel format and I believe they use a digital video jukebox system similar to NY1. Part of the program is looped and new segments are inserted continually throughout the day. Breaking news and the morning program are fully live. Updated weather and other news stories are added as they occur and inserted constantly throughout the day. To keep the channel cost effective they are usually single presenter broadcasts. So it seems they has that in mind even with the new set designs. Still trying to determine if News13 and BayNews9 have carpeted studios. It seems so. Never seen it before.

I'd imagine the floor is just black before the finish starts to fade. Carpet would just be a hassle and the wear and tear would be visible after a few months.

You think so? Ive been scrutinizing the timelapse video and pics from the sister station BayNews9 and it really looks like carpeting of some kind to me. THere are a few shots they take at floor level. Also toward the end you see a hoover being used. (check 2.20min) It looks like carpet. Ive seen matte floors before....Tell me what you think....

You're right - it definitely looks like carpet tiles (you can see the squares), but I guess it could be another type of tiling.

I'm not sure how common it is to carpet a news studio. I believe that BBC Wales originally had a rug on the floor of their 1999-2005 set, but had to replace it with a painted oval instead, as the cameras kept getting stuck in it.

With these 24hr local digital jukebox types of productions, i imagine the cameras like stay locked down most of the time so the chances of normal wear and tear a probably different than a normal use studio floor. The camera angles and moves are quite basic zooms and slight side pans for OTS graphics and stuff like that. Nothing dramatic.

WOCK- TV Hoy TV/MUNDO FOX Chicago. This a small news operation based on the Chicago Tribune's Spanish language daily.
Its small corner set next to the newsroom. I think its looks good for what it is. This set up can certainly work IMO for the new UK local stations.

Regrettably, the station you mentioned is no longer doing news as the main network MundoFox was bought out (it was a 50-50 split between Fox International Channels and RCN Television of Colombia) and dropped news on the national & local levels

WSB 2 - ABC - Atlanta - market leading affiliate finally get its new set. They are one of the few stations installing a ceiling track camera. The set isnt that impressive compared with WAGA (FOX 11) award winning set and WXIA (NBC 11) modern set. The set hasnt debuted yet. But from what I've seen....ehhh.

here is a video about their lighting and video wall.

KARE - 11 - Minneapolis Minnesota debut their new set last night. Not sure what i think about it. Its very unusual. As one comment stated the lighting it hideaous and lets the whole thing down. The more I look at it, the less I like it.
Newscast Studio just confirmed it was designed in house...looks it. Frankly.
