I believe blues work better in high definition sets.
It would be nice if the next affiliate getting a new set, didn't use blue .

Many of these new sets have colour changing LED technology. So its likely many of them can be any colour they want. They choose not to. Many for their morning broadcast they go yellow/gold/orange. But I do agree about blue. Its kinda ehhh now, isnt it?

WBMA-ABC33/40- Birmingham. Finally 20 years after launch the station finally gets a decent set. It features a heavy use of LED Colour changing walls. This set is drastically different from anything they have ever had. Production wise this is a massive step forward for this station. ABC 33/40 (messy name) was born out of a affiliate switch that saw long time ABC affiliate WBRC switch to FOX network, so ABC had 2 lower power stations signals cobbled together to create a station that cover much of central Alabama. Its a branding and signal nightmare and continues to be. Changing mulitple owners much of its life and then eventually seeing the channels 33 and 40 being sold off and no longer have any relevance whats so ever.
Read the wiki entry and see if you can figure it out. Messy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WBMA-LD
Seems as though they couldnt get away from wood and brass. Hence the hideous header around the perimeter.
Whilst its not a fantastic set, its lightyears better than the horror show they put on before. The music graphics and set since launch has been the worst in the market. Though they did acquire some of best long-time anchors and reporters from rival stations when the affiliate switch happened. Like Meteorologist James Spann (climate-change skeptic
) and First Female anchor in the state Pam Huff.

Huge expansive set. Im liking this. Though feels a bit darker above the header. Dont think the wood was a good idea.

Love the front of the desk and the expansive skyline "windows" Its a entire wall of LED TV set on its side. Look just a row a windows.
The page from the station has a tour and timelapse footage.

WPXI- 11 Pittsburg. I actually love this set. I shouldnt but I do. The desk is strangely old fashioned. and its got wood around the perimeter wall. How crazy is that?! I not sure why I love it. Its got almost a throw back vibe to it. I think the weather desk is oddly placed. its almost and extension of the anchor desk. The sets got the now usual suspects of a video wall. But I love the video ribbons that encircle the weather and anchor desks and then the blue header than changes colours when breaking news happens. I love the white shiny floor risers and the white glossy columns works well with the wood panels along the back. I like floor graphic that runs infront of the anchor desk around to the weather centre.

Still not sure about the desks....but its so different I like it.
After looking at the anchor desk...it only needs a slight modification IMO. The right side of the desk. The white endcaps.....that completely ruins its. It should have just been a blue glowing box. It didnt need that white corner bar.

Well apparently its 14 individual 90-inch vertical LED monitors that can be viewed as one large, panoramic shot. Its probably running Viz video wall controller - apparently they can take eight inputs (for live video) and output eight full HD images no matter what orientation. Certainly the biggest LED "window" set up Ive seen. Not sure if they needed the huge rear projection screen. But apparently its also part of Pittsburgh Live set which is on the other side.
$2500 each x 14 = $35000 guestimate.

I believe blues work better in high definition sets.
It doesn't, it's just a more modern effort than wood panelling. Any colour would work in HD.

I was saying IF they were a Viz shop (which they aren't) they probably would be using the video wall controller. Please if your going to lift posts/information from other boards at least include a link.

Whatever is powering them isn't at least taking one image/video and stretching it accross all 14. I could see the monitors come in handy on election night where each person gets their own monitor.
Also it looks like the desk may rotate. In one of the pictures on their web gallery saw brightly colored gaffers tape marking where one corner is supposed to be.
