WTTV -4 CBS - Indianapolis. New CBS affiliate WTTV debut their new set. This is a completely new news operation. It is housed in the same building as the Tribune owned Fox affiliate for Indy. They are in an extremely small studio next door to the FOX afiliate set. WTTV has replaced longtime CBS affiliate in Indy WISH -8 which becomes a CW affiliate.
Thought the set is tiny its quite good and its an effective use of space without being overly fussy.

The studio was too tiny to fit a green screen for weather so they had to opt for a LCD array. Interesting solution

It is a really nice set. I like that it's not all that involved — just a sleek desk, a few presentation points, and some nice finishing. It is, however, not a new news operation. Rather, WXIN's newsroom launched newscasts on WTTV, which acquired the CBS affiliation at the same time. As I understand it, it's still the same newsroom with just another brand for a different channel.

Well thats not actually true. Both stations mains separate news operations. Though they are a duopoly and housed in the same location with minimal cross-over, They have separate anchor teams, etc as well.

Quote:
"Will local news on WTTV and WXIN be the same?

No. A news organization is being assembled to accommodate local news on WTTV. The news team is highlighted by anchor Debby Knox (a WISH fixture from 1980 until her retirement in 2013) and meteorologist Chris Wright (who worked at WISH from 1996 until 1999, as well as at WTHR-13 from 1999 to 2013). Knox will team with anchor Bob Donaldson, who will split time between WTTV and WXIN. Newcomers Marianne Lyles, Tim Doty and Lindsay Riley will be part of the WTTV staff. Morning co-anchor Lyles is moving from a Milwaukee ABC affiliate. Morning co-anchor Doty comes from a Fox affiliate in Grand Rapids, Mich. And meteorologist Riley joins WTTV from an NBC affiliate in the Dallas/Fort Worth.

Yes, their anchor team is separate, and they have separate producers too, but their in the field reporters and photographers, video editors, and news director are all the same. They also have only one assignment desk. I don't think separate anchors and producers but shared everything else is enough separation to say that it's a completely separate operation.

HLN has done some horrible things to CNN US's old studio - including letting T-Mobile sponsor it...

So glad to live in a country where the news can't be sponsored or have PP.

The T-Mobile branding doesnt appear on screen during the only "news" program, Morning Express (if you can call it that). So you cant really say the news is being sponsored. That would be an inaccurate statement. The Daily Share is a light topical discussion program. viral videos, and hot topics, social media, etc.. Certainly not a news show by any stretch of the imagination. Ehh. Not interested.

They completely ruined that studio. Yuck. I do the like the minimalist graphics that are on Morning Express... from what i've seen so far. But I cant imagine this channel existing for much longer. Whats funny is they wanted Robin Meade to go join New Day, but she wouldnt leave CNN Center. And they knew it would be dumb to let her go. She is the only real remaining draw on HLN before primetime.
Still its sad to see Headline News reduced to this mess.

Sigh....

Well this is was CNN Domestic is reduced to a corner of the old HLN studio has been removed/revamped to resemble the brick NEW DAY/QMB/OUTFRONT set in NYC. Its horrible. You can see that his set is in the same studio as the old HLN/WORLD SPORT set. So its unlikely that CNNi will be getting the entire studio for CNNi. This set for CNN NewsRoom and NewDay Wkend from Atlanta is disgraceful. It looks like someones attic. Just goes to show the sad state CNN Domestic is in. CNN Centre reduced to a storage space. A sad depressing, rudderless mess. This garbage looks like a dark dreary mess.

The HLN set is nice enough in a trying to be modern not looking like a newsroom way, but that T-Mobile set is one of the most hideous pieces of design I've ever seen.
