Peter Mansbridge — the veteran CBC News anchor who has been informing Canadians of the day's top stories, broadcasting into their living rooms each night for decades — is retiring as anchor of The National.

Mansbridge, 68, has announced that he plans to step down from the helm of CBC's flagship show next summer, after anchoring special Canada Day coverage on July 1, when the country will mark its 150th birthday.

After you've had a cameo in the 2nd highest grossing film of 2016, where is there to go? Wink

Im miss gonna Mr Mansbridge. Along with Mr Brokaw (NBC) and dearly departed Mr Jennings (ABC) they were a trio that is unmatched. He proved to be among the greatest news anchors in broadcasting. Even toned and steady and knowlegeable. He will be a great loss for one of North America's great news operations. Mr Mansbridge will be missed. If you you never watched Mr Mansbridge work, you missed a master at work. The National can be viewed on the CBC website.
