The Catalonian Parliament has voted for independence, Madrid have voted for Article 155. Oh boy.....
Sky News, BBC News and CNN are in breaking news mode as I speak and I wouldn't be surprised if it was for the next few days. Sky's coverage so far from what I've seen has be excellent so far.

Umm, Simon Cowell was rushed to hospital this morning, so it's not a dead cert to hang on to being the lead story.
BBC World stuck with Business until the programme was over and then at the top of the hour began coverage. CNNi and SkyNews broke in. The US networks havent covered it at all. Stuck on JFK document dump coverage. Ehh. CNNi it is. Robin Curnow has been quite good. Briefly paused to interview a Kenyan politician about the violence surround the election there.

The Article 155 activation was amended just before it was approved so that Catalan media does not come under the direct control of the Madrid government.
I imagine if things turn say particularly violent (leading to fatalities) or similar it could see anchors being sent to Barcelona to present bulletins from there.

Tim Willcox is there already, and has been doing what appear to be simulcasts from after the headlines to around the bottom of the hour. He's fluent in Spanish - I wonder how his Catalan is?

From some of his name pronunciations, not great. He's definitely more at ease with Castilian. It definitely helps having a Castilian speaking reporter there, but - randomly - someone who could speak Italian, or even French, would probably find Catalan a bit easier to comprehend. Catalan and Castilian are from the same family but it's a little like Scottish Gaelic and Welsh - similar roots but very different languages today.

Tomorrow is possibly quite a crucial day and with possible sudden live development so I Imagine the news channels will be on alert all day in-case there is live images of important arrests or violence starting.
