This has to be the most bizarre few days for knife and gun crime. Every day someone has either been shot or stabbed to death. Some nutter shot two random people in London earlier this week, one of this victims on a platform of a Tube station I wait at on a daily basis. Luckily I think someone has been arrested in connection with this. What is the world coming too!

Few weeks ago a young woman was stabbed with a samurai sword and then run over a few streets away from me. She'd only moved to Blackhill 3 weeks earlier. Yes it was on the North East News but not a mention on the National News. Nothing new there. Now that was a murder. Did anyone die in the nightclub? You haven't really said.

Yesterday a man opened fire with a handgun in a Cardiff nightclub. One man was shot and is currently in hospital.
I've not seen this reported on the national news. My question is, would it have been headline news had the shooting happened in an English city?

I actually saw that reported though.
I wasn't making a point, I was asking a question. I think it's a case of which stories play out better to the audience, rather than regional discrimination.

It sounds very cynical, but I think the media judge our mood to be "knifed out" after the recent stabbing of the london school kid. I don't expect gun/knife related crime to be reported much nationally for the next few weeks.
Again locally where I am- someone was knifed outside a police station...I don't expect (or think it deserves) national attention.
Sad reflection of modern society really.
