The point about business news is spot on- leave consumer news to watchdog etc....having said this, News 24 is living the appauling recommendations from the Lambert report- which wanted more consumer orientated rubbish to "engage" with viewers. It's not actually their fault.

In my opinion- less weather, more proper business news.

BBC News 24 seriously needs to consider the business news more. Perhaps they could boost ratings by having "Business Breakfast" or similar at 8am, which may prompt more businesses to turn it on above another channel, rather than suffering the usual fluff on Breakfast. I'd also suggest the full length of European Breakfast Time (with the WBR programmes at :30) is shown, taking it up to 8am. Perhaps a business programme for the Market Close in the afternoon would also be a good idea.

8:00am for Business Breakfast??? Most Business people are already hard at work by then. 6:00am would be better.

The suggestion was that they broadcast BBC World up to 8am... with World Business Report in the last half hour. Business Breakfast is just a suggestion of a programme to fill the gap between 8-9am.

Less sport too. The only good thing about it on N24 is you get to see that blondes arse when she hands back to the desk! Rolling Eyes

About an hour ago I saw Julia back again. I haven't seen her for some time but my god has she got a gob on her!
The phrase Buisness Bimbo never seemed more sutiable.
Why oh why is she still in a job?
Business content, what business content? Apart from WBR and BT there's nothing apart from the wonderful Julia Updates.
I really think News 24 should consider broadcasting Eurpoean Breakfast followed by WBR, thus killing two birds with one stone. 1st -ly losing a repeat of a programme already available to digital viewers and 2ndly adding business and international content. Bit like Sunrise only more porfessional....

BBC News 24 is lucky it has proper Business news. The itv News Channel's business output consists of Jeremy Batstone a stock broker who pops into the studio on his way to and from work - and then we get the very basic market board which the presenters cluelessly shout out some numbers! And i'm an itvnc fan!

I'd rather listen to Jeremy Batstone than Ms Caesar though!

There isn't enough business on N24. I think we should have a brief update at xx.15 in the headlines then a full five minute or so report at xx.40. There should also be business updates on the national news as well as an indepth look at the business for ten minutes or so at regular times say 10.45, 12.45, 14.45 and 16.45. I think a similar thing should be done with the sport, less regularly, at 11.45, 17.45 and 22.45.

I would have said News 24 has got the balance between News, Sport, Business and Weather quite right. They do a lot more business news than the ITV NC and Sky News.

There are 5 - 10 minute sports updates in every hour, and there are short business updates, as well as the two weather forecasts. Then there is Sportsday at 6.45pm and Business Today at 10.30 pm every day. I think that this is enough.

I personally think Business Today is on too late perhaps it would be better if it moved to half past nine instead. I suppose the balance is near enough right, I just think that there is slightly too much sport.
The only thing I really think should be added is perhaps another international summary (like the 09.30) at 14.30 and also a regular live five day weather forecast say at 20.55 or 21.55 but for obvious reasons if news breaks then it could be changed.

Business Today was always on at 20.30 from when it launched in 2001. It was a better time slot then, but I think the idea of moving it to 22.30 was to catch the close of the US stock markets at 21.00.

I agree that another World News bulletin is needed, but the difficultly comes in arranging a suitable time for both N24 and World. Although World only broadcasts live news for the first 30 minutes of every hour, there are often other live programmes (such as Asia Today, WBR, Sport Today) in the back half hours, and when there isn't, they usually pre-record some others (such as the late night Asia Today, Heathrow Express etc).
