Huge story, at least where I am (UAE). Is it leading elsewhere? As mentioned over on the BBCW thread, BBCW have now dispatched Lyse Doucet to anchor coverage from neighbouring Thailand.

Bit perplexed to see CNN's last headline segment leading with the Election Primaries result, followed by the Cyclone news.

Admittedly I've not watched a bulletin this week, but I didn't find out about it for two days and it's hardly getting the Tsunami treatment - and certainly no extended news coverage. It's not exactly front page news either.

Urmm well it was the main front page story of The Sun today - to get world news on the front page of there is a bit of a miracle. And the BBC, ITV and Sky are all leading with it at 10.00. Its just been a bit slower than the Tsunami cos its so difficult to get reporters in there and get footage out of there.

When I was watching the other day AJE had two correspondents (neither of which could be named) inside Burma, as well as a lady doing live crosses from Bangkok. I'll have some screenshots of the later today if people are interested..

What I'm wondering is was Burma effected by the Tsunami? Wasn't one of the countries mentioned from what I remember, but it was close enough to be in the line of fire.

Was it just that they didn't let anyone in, and there was so much going on in other places no-one bothered to report it?

So yes.

Who is the BBC correspondent in Rangoon? I'm sure he was named on the Today programme this morning.

Paul Danahar - who I think is a senior producer (Bureau Chief?) was reporting on the lead package on tonight's BBC News at Ten O'Clock.

I notice DEC appeals are going out on all BBC One to Four tonight. Do other channels broadcast these?

I've just given, and I'd encourage others to do so if they can.

They usually go out on all channels, though occassionally fronted by someone else for the commercial channels.

ITV News had Neil Connery in Burma tonight - don't know how well BBC/Sky have done at getting people in.

Also worth noting in relation to that appeal the reports of aid not being allowed into the country too.

It was on Five, just before 19:30, and v/o by Natasha Kaplinsky.

It went out on Sky News just before 22:00 also, male v/o this time (not sure who).
