Yes I agree with that, I just took the BBC as my other example who do use time specific titles at different times.

In the past when they've began at 6.25pm (and even 6pm) they've used the 6.30pm titles.

I don't understand why they don't just stick the PPB on at 6.25pm like they used to.

Also, it doesn't bother ITV that Big Ben doesn't actually "bong" on the half-hour. Look at old clips of News at Ten - and if it began late, the bongs used to be dropped!

As for the BBC - I guess thought dubbed "Ten o'clock News" etc. the titles aren't so time specific - so if the Ten begins within half an hour or so after 10 the titles still apply.

Also, though generic titles may be used for a scheduled late (or early) bulletin, in the event of the bulletin being delayed due to extended coverage of football for example, often the original titles remain intact.

I think there should be two versions of the generic titles, one with no clock hands for the Weekend News and one with one hand which strikes 12 for the News Channel. Big Ben looks a bit wierd with no hands...
