A few weeks outside the UK watching CNN and BBC WORLD and its so interesting to see how often CNN serves up something better than the BBC.

Today Richard Quest is doing half-hourly live reports from Heathrow with human interest angles and valuable update information. BBC WORLD are just putting out the same recorded package and really treating it as a business story.

When travel arrangements are so vital to so many - including myself who is flying back to London a BA flight shortly - BBC WORLD really need to do something better. There's even more information on the BA website and that's saying something!

Would you be saying the same if it was a) a different airline and b) a different country? There's a difference between BBC World and the domestic BBC TV News ... being honest about it if you weren't flying back into the UK would you be that concerned about it. Say if you were sitting watching in India and were not flying anywhere is the story that big? Yes it's an easy hit for CNN - but I wonder if CNN in say the US are going BIG on it - I doubt it. BBC World have been doing 'lives' from Heathrow from when the story broke last night. You could argue that the financial implications for BA are actually a bigger story.

Yes - and CNNi is more aimed at the "travelling businessman" community than BBC World...

I often find that CNNi seems to be more London-centric than BBC World. I don't know if it is because CNN have a major operation there, but they seem to favour the UK more than World.

What EXACTLY is the situation with this thread?

Are we allowed to comment on the illegal strike by BA workers or were the previous two threads locked because the strike hadn't been properly sanctioned by a postal vote?

THIS thread offers analysis and thought into coverage of the event, rather than "it's happening...post caps here".

The gentleman can talk sense for as long as he wants...but this gentleman has been down the pub. Live with it.
