Brian Barron deserves his own (admittedly and understandably temporary) thread. There isn't a single member here who wouldn't ever have been exposed to Brian's reporting at some stage in our lives. The man was probably the last remaining member of the BBC "old school" of formidable foreign correspondence. I always enjoyed watching Brian's reports as they managed to fuse all elements of credibility, authority, belief and - somehow - Britishness, no matter which corner of the globe he was reporting from.

Brian Barron died today, aged 69.

Tragedy. I always remember him presenting the daily editions of USA Direct back in the late 90's from New York with Jane Hughes.
