Corny trailers aside, I think Brexitcast is great. For me it’s a breath of fresh air compared to other political programmes. I listen to every episode and will now be watching every Thursday episode as well. Incidentally it’s on the BBC News Channel and BBC World at 9.30 for the next three weeks at least unless breaking news gets in the way. So it’s looks like that’s going to be a regular time slot for it as well.
There was knowingness to This Week’s cringeyness though. The Brexitcast trial feels like it’s trying to hard to be funny when it’s really not and without being very interesting and unlikely to make normal people want to tune in.
You're clearly not a fan. They persistently run themselves down for being geeky and cringey. They're very self aware.
I can't wait for it. Love it.
The only time I’ve consumed Brexitcast is when they did that weird One Show takeover which I can’t really remember. I will watch one of today’s showings and give it a fair run. I was just giving my opinion in regards to how the trail comes across to someone who’s not listened to the podcast.
Probably not much differently to someone who came across a This Week trail but had never watched it.

Yeah, that One Show thing is not representative. I hated that too. It's definitely worth giving it another shot.
Not too bad, we got a Blue Nun reference, BUT it doesn't feel suitable for television. Talking heads for 28 minutes with just an odd VT, the video of the Barnier clip with Adam Fleming was class though. We'll see how it pans out next week.
I felt it was good as a show in its own right. But This Week replacement worthy... it is not.
They obviously all have a lot of chemistry together. But it’s released as a podcast earlier that day anyway, and it being televised doesn’t add anything to it.
Also, as much as Brexit feels like it’s going to be around forever... it’s not. I certainly don’t think this can match This Week’s 16 years longevity.
I think bed times are going to be a little earlier for me on a Thursday from now on.
I really do like Brexitcast but it’s not suited for television; no picture or interesting visuals, just a bunch of people chatting around mics. It’s clearly a cheap replacement for a well-produced political TV programme.
Radio shows not repurposed for TV rarely work. It's not tricky to change - MOTD2 Extra on Sunday afternoons had a product which worked both for BBC2 and Radio 5 Live quite easily.
Surprised they're not running a repeat of The AN Show after Brexitcast on Thursdays.

I would think it odd if they ran a day old repeat of a news programme considering how fast things are moving at the moment.
As a Brexitcast fan I thought it transitioned very nicely onto TV, and as with the podcast it will come into its own when there is a huge news day.
Most of the negative comments I've seen on Twitter are from people expecting them to argue, missing the point that it's not a debate and it's one of the only Brexit-related shows where there's hardly ever a cross word. It's sad that these days a political programme without arguing is considered a "love-in".
I didn’t hate it as much I thought I would and I’d go as far to say it’s a pretty good watch.
I think there should have been a little bit of an introduction to explain it to the viewer rather than what they did of sort of explaining it to each other. There still needs to be some tele conventions reserved. I think presenters should look into the camera when addressing the viewers directly to make it seem a bit less like radio on the TV, which would make it seem a little less jarring for those new to the programme.
I also don’t think we needed to see the studio when they are playing clips. I guess it made sense during the Michel Barnier clip though.
But I wouldn’t tweak much more, and probably only the second point is relevant come the second week.
I think trying to replicate This Week straight away would have been difficult and this is probably the right programme at the right time.
