Brexit Dramarama

As I remember it, no one really knew what was going on, and there were rumours of everything from resignation due to ill health to the death of a royal. Not even the most senior news correspondents had any sort of inkling.

Adam Boulton speculated about May's health and N.10 complained about that.

Some of the reports are citing sources that "the palace is being kept informed". That sounds like she's standing down?

I can't help but think that too, why would the palace need to be informed otherwise?

Not always - the Palace would probably be told if she is facing a confidence vote and for the Queen to prepare for a resignation/ pm handover/who knows what else.

I don't know why they would need to be informed. IIRC, If Theresa was to lose a confidence vote, there would be two weeks to try and form a new government. Should those efforts fail, the Speaker signs something which is sent to HM, Parliament is dissolves and we all know the drill from there.


Anyway, I feel this is starting to get a bit too far off topic. Back to the coverage (which could be getting exciting later today, depending on who you ask)

Here we go... vote of confidence in Theresa May between 6pm and 8pm tonight.

PM to make statement in Downing St shortly. Piers has said they may stay on air either GMB just after usual tease with Lorraine.

That will be both News at Ten's extended tonight (and propable Newsflashes) if she loses.

Which looks incredibly likely the way the numbers stack up.
