I’m not aware disrupting a TV broadcast is a criminal or civil offence, interesting !

Looking increasingly likely they will be a vote of confidence among Conservative Mp's in Theresa May. If that happens could we see changes to BBC1 to cover the live reaction to the results of the Vote. In 1995 when they was a leadership challenge to John Major the result was live on BBC1 around 5pm - it's on YouTube I think.

No.

At most I would expect a news flash in a junction if she loses the vote, but remember back in 1995 we didn't have news channels so news flashes were much more common, and longer.

I can recall Major's resignation announcement also breaking into BBC1 at the same time - I think they took off Newsround, an episode of The Machine Gunners that Children's BBC were re-running at the time, and Neighbours.

A resignation announcement is a bit different though.

Did they take May's announcement of the 2017 GE on BBC1? I remember the speculation in the hours leading up to it.

Oh I'm not trying to draw any conclusions that they'll do the same thing now - just offering my recollections of being a slightly confused 11 year old!

IIRC, BBC One did take the GE announcement.

Yes they did- They went to the News Channel at 11am and the announcement was 5/10 minutes later.
If she loses the vote she has effectively resigned per the Conservative Party rules. She can't then stand in the subsequent leadership election. It get rolling coverage on BBC1 especially if it was in day time.
