And it's also the Doctor Who finale, The Dynasties finale and the 90 minute Drama Care on BBC1 whilst (as already mentioned) It's the I'm Celebrity Final as well last, so you may as well take the debate idea off the table now As it's not actually confirmed as happening! Those tweets you posted BM11 Mean nothing until a press release happens!
The Sun has an interview with the PM so on her side at least she is claming to want a debate.
It more likely get moved to the Thursday or Friday before I suspect.
If programmes often are cancelled for news specials that cover the aftermath of something big happening, why not bump shows to cover something that it
actually
happening?
Because the reality of it is it will be incredibly boring as Commons votes usually are, so it might be deserving of a news flash at a junction if it happens before 10, but hours of extended broadcasting is just going to get people moaning on twitter that Holby or Masterchef isn't on.
I don't believe that the BBC should be chasing ratings but it's the night of the Royal Variety Performance over on ITV, and in the build up to Christmas it's going to be difficult to reschedule those displaced programmes also (especially Masterchef which is stripped across Tuesday-Thursday at 20:00 on BBC2).
Same with the final episode of Mrs Wilson, the BBC are not insane enough to bump a show which would be very difficult to reschedule.

I imagine most broadcasters would rather be broadcasting things that would actually rate well unless they fancy handing the competition more viewers.
To be fair a Drama is not the hardest thing to reschedule - the BBC usually do have a few repeats at 9pm during the buildup of Christmas.
And surely when the vote comes on the 11th it will happen just in time for the Ten O Clock news broadcasts which will no doubt be extended.
Usually votes on Tuesday evenings start at 7- if that Patten is followed then they have to be a lot of amendments for the vote to still be going on at 9pm or later. Through of course votes could start earlier or later in the day compared to the usual Tuesday pattern.

Schedules are available up to 21 December and there are very few repeats in prime time on both BBC One and BBC Two, so any rescheduling is going to involve moving things after the News at 10/Newsnight.

That might have to happen through as who knows what will happen.

BBC One isn't going to put a drama after the news.

Just As they won't move all the programs Scheduled for the 9th because there is no space to reschedule them! End of discussion!
This debate and the date have been suggested by Downing Street, according to The Sun. It may not happen on the 9th, it may not happen on the BBC, it may not even happen at all.

Mrs May added: “Exactly how it might be done, if he takes it up, would be a matter for the broadcasters to determine."
Exactly. What's the point of a televised debate if members of the public aren't voting on the matter? From this side of the Atlantic, it sounds like a stunt from May.
