I'm not sure but don't forget that production/technical staffing levels at weekends will generally not be at the levels to cope with a very busy news day. So I would imagine they may need some additional support to handle the regular bulletins, let alone anything additional.

Both BBC One & ITV are showing live sport of various types until teatime on Saturday
BBC One can easily extend their teatime news as they’ve got Final Score airing up to 5:30 and it regularly rushes off air earlier than that. They won’t want anything encroaching on Strictly though.

It's going to be a bit tricky for them with it being a Saturday, isn't it? Like you say, I can't imagine the BBC (or ITV for that matter) would want to drop Saturday programmes in favour of rolling coverage of Brexit. Could you imagine the public outcry? I wonder if they will just interrupt for a quick newsflash (if necessary) and point viewers to the BBC News Channel? Don't know what ITV would do - maybe the odd extra newsflash in commercial breaks?
