Brexit Dramarama

I have had word back from the House of Commons Press Office and they have said they "expect" the house to rise for the Easter recess on Tuesday 16th April and will return on Tuesday 23rd April, meaning this will be one of the shortest Easter recesses parliament has ever had.

Claire Byrne Live was broadcasting from Brussels tonight talking about Brexit. Darren McCaffery of Euronews & formerly Sky News was there on the guest's panel tonight. The studio they broadcasted the programme from was the same one that Adam Boulton did his Brexit programme with Sky News a while ago.

It sounds like they will be redoing the turf underneath the gazebos. Call me crazy why are they doing that when they will be going back up right after returning and seeding it.

Sounds like they need to consider permanent stand up areas with built in connectivity nearby.

The meeja seem to have forgotten it’s not their land ! If only they could all find a nearby building that they could share, and build sound proof and secure studios inside

I passed by the green today, and I've seen lawns in worse nick.

I was down inside the media area/cordon a few weeks ago and was surprised how the grass had fared generally. However down by the entrances to the platforms its completely shot.

Maybe with the renovations going on they can create an protected area where the media can have small gazebos where lights and equipment can be left for quick and easy setup. And if it’s in a protected area close to the Palace they wouldn’t have to worry about being accosted by protesters they could get more MPs. Overall creating a more safe atmosphere. I realize the Milbank studios are close by but this could give more immediate reaction. I’m thinking something like pebble beach at the White House.

I’m not sure about how it’s laid out. But the US Capitol Building has multiple stand up points (that are public) that have inject points that are connected to the local fiber ring and HD-SDI switch around the Capitol.

ISTR Sky had a proper (albeit temporary) studio set up on College Green which was used in the immediate aftermath of the actual Brexit vote. It didn’t look too bad, either.

Not sure what deaf viewers will make of the BBC's Brexit coverage. Laura Kunesberg's report, referring to "the dilemmas staring the country in the face", was subtitled (live) as " stabbing the country in the face."

I witnessed the worst subtitling mistake I've seen so far, on Have I Got News for You last week. When it came to reading out the scores, we instead got the shocking news that 'Ian and Stacey have sex'.

Did they institute the automatic captioning machine seen in W1A?

BBC News used the Breaking News sting just now at the end of a package. I think this is the first time I've seen it used in a long time (maybe since that time it kept appearing between the headlines on the Ten) although I'm sure it does get used.
