Ok living in the Wirral, my Brother called me to say about what had gone on so I switched on to the news channels. I was shocked to see Andy Gill talking as his kids are at my little sister's school so I have seen him picking them up there, anyway that map that was on N24 was so bad the loop is more of a hexagon then a round shape and we spotted about 5 wrong names spelt wrong on it "Bedington" was another which is meant to say Bebington. As for the train stations underground you have the following of which I know of:

Liverpool Central
Lime Street
Moorefield’s
James Street
Hamilton Square
And then Conway Park and Green Lane are kind of underground but with an open top roof.

Another Misleading thing is they say they have new Trains they are new in away but they are still the same trains as before which we have had since I was growing up in 1990's but they have just been totally ripped out and done up inside.

The map was rotated anti-clockwise 90 degrees. Maps don't *have* to have North at the top! I thought it was very clear.

Yes, I know that maps don't have to have north at the top, but as a local who knows the area well, I found the map to be very misleading - as have other residents in the area. It's like someone showing me a map of London - it would seem very clear, but I wouldn't have the foggiest whether it was geographically accurate.

I was very glad to see News 24 devoting so much time to this story. Usually, Merseyside is completely forgotten - even though there were no casualties, I think it was a good decision on the BBC's part to run with it for so long. It was also good to see N24 living up to its commitment to use its regional resources more effectively - this was demonstrated by Andy Gill being on the line very quickly after the news broke.

I think it was a case of this being the first map you get with a google search so news24 used it..which explains the spelling and angle.

Thought BBC News 24 went over the top and it was almost as if they were treating it as a terrorist style attack. Events like this show the limitations of breaking news channels as there was little information and the anchors were asking questions that simply couldn't be answered.

Anyone who uses the network knows any derailment in the loop will be fairly minor as the tube is only a tad wider than the train itself and there's a limit of 30mph.

The local radio reporter covering it for Radio Merseyside can hardly hide his disappointment today that the rescue operation went off without a hitch. The incredulity in his voice when he talks about what a success it was has to be heard to be believed.

Any more so than Sky News did?

Didn't see the Sky coverage so can't comment.

I was flicking between the two, they were as bad as each other - if anything, N24 was restrained in comparison.

Another good point MOz. It's not like most viewers would expect to see Liverpool in the North. Rolling Eyes
