The feed of The Queen visiting the hospital this morning was pooled from ITN.

Yes, Sky News showed the footage as it was coming in but they didn't cut the feed quick enough when the TX had finished and we were greeted with an ITN test card for a few seconds. Wink

Making the point it might be more difficult to because of the automated nature of overnight broadcasting as well as having agreements that could be broken to cover it, but to be fair it was declared a terror attack itv were covering very well indeed which is good

I wasn't aware about the suggestions that the NYT got information from "civilian" sources which undoubtedly had to get their information from either US or UK government employees. You make a very good point about the intelligence leaks coming directly from the White House or the FBI. .

The likelihood of the leak being a UK source is minimal. All of our government traffic in and out is monitored and the case building systems we use audit every single keystroke and click. If someone has leaked it there will be a trail they can't erase and they'll very quickly find themselves up against disciplinary charges and Computer Misuse/DPA charges. We take information security and data integrity very seriously.

Having had dealings with the FBI and DHS before (sounds exotic, it really wasn't!) they're a lot more free with their information. Sending me personal information without verifying who I was and what I do for a living. I could've been a cleaner!

So Greater Manchester Police are to resume sharing intelligence with America. That was a fairly short tantrum.

A its not, there have ever right to make formal complaints. B I dare say Trump and high end officials have make it clear to staff to keep their mouths shut, - no doubt with threats of trump just purging those places.

Quite surprised it's still got the old logo and not the YOUR Key 103 branding on it.

Yes, Trump vowed that he would get to the bottom of it. Hopefully telling them to keep their mouths shut.

After all, he's such an expert on keeping his own mouth shut.

The feed of The Queen visiting the hospital this morning was pooled from ITN.

As per usual for a royal event - it was shot by Peter Wilkinson (aka 'Camerman To the Queen'*), the pool playout was by ITN through their truck on site. The live pooled arrival and departure coverage was by Sky, I think via a LiveU because the location was too far from where the trucks were parked. I believe there was a hope the coverage inside might be (at least partially) live but it wasn't possible.

(*Technically he's 'cameraman employed by BBC / ITN / Sky who films the Queen a lot but doesn't work for her'. That's a less snappy title for a documentary though.)

So as an example - those of us on site saw the live arrivals by watching off air as they weren't fed through the pool truck, but we could see (and record locally for editing) the ITN playout by hooking into their truck. Sky would almost certainly have put it on air via their line feed from ITN not via their truck on site. What was pleasing was the amount of material and how clearly you could hear the Queen and those she was speaking with- that's not always the case!

I'm a little surprised Sky ran it live as it was played out- Peter Wilkinson doesn't shoot for that, so if comes in a fairly raw form. (I'm not sure when News Channel ran the pictures but it wasn't as they were being played out.)

With some careful selection it was possible to form it into some really nice pieces.

- and the President & Chief executive of the New York Times is... Mark Thompson - you remember him. Hes the one who as BBC Director General sold Television Centre to a developer for a pittance - demolishing some of the best TV studios in the world. It caused a huge shortage of studio space in London & pushing up prices. He did enormous damage to the BBC before leaving the country.

Point 1 - we've discussed this before but he had to sell off tvc to get the money ex-pm Cameron was starving the corporation of by freezing the licence fee.

Point 2 - He is so far up the NYT managerial chain that day to day editorial decisions of the paper do not lie with him - or sees advance.
