Nothing against Victoria Derbyshire personally, as a studio based presenter on her own show she's a very capabable journalist but once again today, anchoring the Breaking output on location under the generic BBC News branding she's been really struggling and reading straight off a clipboard. The headlines on the TOTH and intro off the back of the titles weren't particularly well thought out. No 'This is BBC News, i'm Victoria Derbyshire live in Manchester, the headlines at 10'. Its like she's unsure if she's presenting her own show or not, so in part the programme editor could be to blame, but it is as if she's not ever seen an hour of standard News channel output before.

I would of preferred to see someone like Ben Brown or Annita McVeigh anchoring such a story with VD on location contributing somewhere interviewing people.

And the jeans are back. Embarassed

I'm watching on World and think she's doing better than she did yesterday. Her reading off the clipboard and tablet has definitely been shakey. I am a bit surprised they don't have a teleprompter set up on one of the cameras. Additionally it seems the camera work seems to be predominately over the shoulder. Would look much better if it was on a tripod where they pan and tilt as needed.

It also appears they have a locked off camera shot from a building above their location. It appears Victoria and her crew are in the center of the frame with the blue photojournalist.

Also what's up with this three box. I have never seen it before . It looks a bit awkward having them stacked like that. In my opinion having a large box with Victoria and whoever is with her and two smaller "center cut" style to the right would look better in my book. Two rows should be reserved four a four or more box.

And finally the poet they had towards 1030BST was incredibly touching and it seemed like everyone was moved. Wish I caught his name.

He was on Derbyshire last week and also occasionally pops up on Newsround for weather related stories.

No, used to be a regular on the news channel back in the late 00s.

It's incredibly weird knowing that all the American anchors were in Manchester doing their shows. A cameraman buddy of mine who works for BBC NW met Lester Holt and the like. Surreal.

I remember that on the day of the Beslan siege someone on this very forum complained that Loose Women had been cancelled in favour of extended news coverage.

Oh, I think there is someone in the 9/11 thread who is upset that Crossroads has moved to ITV2… there are always people like that who don't really think twice before posting.

There's a 9/11 thread on this forum? Wow

Thanks, I tried to find myself but that was fruitless.
