The PM's statement 30 minutes ago. Seemingly unscheduled as the news channels weren't trailing it, the PM making a live statement announcing that another attack may be imminent, just compounding the day's events.

It was scheduled - albeit with around 30 minutes notice - but it was scheduled for 21:30. When it didn't happen as scheduled they just had to be ready to go to it when it started.

As a presenter who does a feature programme but doesn't appear elsewhere on the output, it looks like Victoria Derbyshire should be dropped on rolling news days like today, ok when it moves more into an analysis/debate programme but not at the initial point. I expect there is a lot of internal politics though.

With the threat level now critical, I doubt coverage of this story will tail off too much over the coming days with everything that Operation Temperer may involve.

It is 'Operation Tempora'. Just correcting you quickly.

I can only echo what you have said. This is the first time I can recall the threat level being at 'critical'. Even though I live 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Manchester, it is still unnerving. I can only agree with you that the story won't be tailing off until the threat level is lowered again.

No, he was right. It's Temperer. Tempora is a separate GCHQ initiative.

OK. I was watching Newyddion 9 with English subtitles at the time and it was spelt Tempora. I hope you understand why I was incorrect.

The ITV Weather stings have also been dropped throughout today.

Was good to see Huw Edwards interviewing, meeting and talking to some of the people from the vigil on the ground a little earlier during a piece on tonight's Ten, complete with reporters microphone. Always happy to get stuck in is Huw. Smile

Yes, I thought the same - imagine the furore if Huw Edwards turned up in rolled up sleeves and jeans.

I'm surprised it hasn't made the Daily Mail.

Talking about the press, has a certain paper done a story about two people on Twitter complaining that Loose Women wasn't on?!

If not, can I get a few bob for doing it?

"Viewers OUTRAGED as ITV dramatically AXES Loose Women!

Viewers today were in a state of SHOCK when Loose Women was replaced by something of actual importance. Viewers had this to say:

< INSERT A DOZEN OR SO EMBEDDED TWEETS >

An ITV spokesman could not be reached."

I remember that on the day of the Beslan siege someone on this very forum complained that Loose Women had been cancelled in favour of extended news coverage.

Just noticed a Sky News interview with the Met Police Commissioner going on the BBC News channel. What's the agreement between the broadcasters in events like this? Is it a matter of the BBC and Sky having a mutual agreement where say, if you give us this - we'll give you that? If so, how do they go about distributing the VT between one another?

I wouldn't be too surprised if there is an agreement to share some resources in certain circumstances, like now.

Oh, I think there is someone in the 9/11 thread who is upset that Crossroads has moved to ITV2… there are always people like that who don't really think twice before posting.
