Having seen the photo above that is pretty extreme and nothing about the fact that her show is usually 'a bit more casual'

Was she expecting a full wardrobe, hair and makeup service when she arrived in Manchester so dressed in her own clothes for the journey

Interesting image from Media Spy of a reporter in the BBC Sport Studio, reporting on the latest from Manchester for ABC News.

I guess the other down-the-line positions were all in use?

And changing the screens so they didn't obviously say "Sport" on them. Copying image 1 or 3 onto the middle one would do.

Or possibly this was something done entirely by sport with no involvement of the rest of BBC News considering Tulsen is normally a world news sports presenter.

I thought this place was better than judging female newsreaders based on what they're wearing.

I'm sorry, but no. There is an expectation that unless you are presenting Newsround, or reporting from some difficult environment/weather conditions, TV news presenters will be dressed smartly. When a news presenter rocks up on air looking like this, it is worthy of comment.

Zipping up her jacket and zooming in above the waist and this would have been a none story.

Tulsen Tollett is a sports reporter - former professional rugby league player who previously worked for ABC. I wonder if he has a regular spot on ABC reporting on British sport, but has ended up having to report on other events in the circumstances?

5 News at 5 had a minor error at the end of the programme.
As Sian signed off on location. In silence the end cap animated and was displayed, then a few images of the events were displayed followed by a still of the end cap.

Which, in fairness, is what happened about 20 minutes later

So, because she's female, we can't comment on the fact that she was dressed totally inappropriately to cover such a serious news story? We're not commenting about the colour of her top or what colour lipstick she was wearing. I'd expect the same comment to be raised if it were a male newsreader - and baring in mind Peter Sissons got it in the neck for not wearing a black tie when the Queen Mother died, and someone on Newswatch commented that Jeremy Bowen looked 'scruffy' when reporting in the field because he's not wearing a tie and Jon Sopel getting it in the neck one day for wearing jeans shows more often than not it's the male newsreaders who get most of the flack.

Unless of course you're saying we can only point out errors with male newsreaders and not female newsreaders? Now that is sexist.

I think the discussion over what Victoria Derbyshire wore for a hour has really been blown out of proportion. We don't know what the full circumstances are. Had she have worn the same outfit the whole time, maybe it would be different. In that hour wearing that outfit, the quality and professionalism of the news coverage was not affected.

22 people are dead - are you all really discussing a jacket?
