They're in full rolling news mode with the occasional straightforward, no-frills weather forecast from Carol. Due to the seriousness of the news and the fact that it is still developing from overnight, unlike some other recent times when there's been major news, there's no other news or sport. Regionals as usual.
They're doing well with Louise leading from location with Dan in the studio (and being in Salford, they've been able to have eyewitness in the studio). Good idea to have a familiar face in Steph reporting from the hospital.

How is BBC Breakfast covering this? I imagine they're on location given their Salford base.
Edit: answered above and below. Thank you.
Appalling events overnight.

They're doing well with Louise leading from location with the main details of what happened and interviews with eyewitnesses, while Dan in the studio has reaction and analysis. Good idea to have a familiar face in Steph reporting from the hospital.
It's probably more a case of, like everyone else, that due to the incident taking place late at night and 'up north' they haven't had chance to deploy anyone from BBC News itself yet so only have BBC Breakfast staff to go at.
Will they have a news channel presenter on site by 9am I wonder or will Louise continue. In any case I'd fully expect Huw Edwards and Mary Nightingale to be there by teatime.
I expect many regions will lead on the story due to someone from their region being at the concert. I know BBC Look North Hull/Leeds currently are with no other news reported in the bulletin.

Why would they, for the vast bulk of the population, the first they learnt of this was when they woke up, and that for most was probably 6am or afterwards ?
Will ITV come one air early?

There is always a way. Charter a chopper or get a seat on a private jet to get key personnel on location. And it takes minutes to wake someone up and they can be briefed enroute to the scene. There are loads of services that sell seats on private jets at the last minute.
It's a huge expense, and for what ? There was nothing really to see, just a distant shot of the venue, and lots of f-off tape.
The only relevant footage at present is all the mobile phone videos taken immediately afterwards, you don't need to charter a Learjet to get that on air ?

Why is it odd? It's pretty obvious why there wasn't a news flash.
ITV Westcountry have recorded a morning bulletin, I assume other regions have done the same.
I think it's odd that ITV News didn't even come on air with a flash at all during the night.

Some people have said that ITV News website had lots of updates, more people would have seen online etc but that is not the point. This is the worst terror attack in the UK since 2005 with numerous dead. If ever an ITV News Report was warranted, regardless of the time of night, it was then.
