Interesting to hear that Jeremy Corbyn has already issued some sort of statement, I wouldn't have thought anything like that would be released until the news of what has happened is more clear.

Certainly looking like it's not that unreasonable to trust Occam's Razor here, and it might be a political calculation given that national security is a theme on which Corbyn's critics have been pushing hard.

But this is of course a presentation forum so we'll leave that line of questioning aside, as interesting as it is!

Apologies for it, then played it AGAIN. Face palm.

ITV could do with some sort of caption explaining what's going on.

Despite apologising before and after it was played.

Maybe they are quite stretched so nobody is available to edit it. I bet even Sky News doesn't have 100 people on hand at 00:40 on a Saturday night.

Good job this is happening during the bat hours, or they could have been in a whole lot more trouble!

I agree - if you've just switched on the TV it'll be rather confusing for several minutes.

"Potential act of terrorism" - PM.

I'd appreciate some strap/info/ticket on ITV, presume they're not prepared for that?

I imagine the Corbyn statement is only being mentioned due to the election, due impartiality means they can't just have the statement from May.

I'd argue that it is perfectly reasonable to play it unedited in the early hours especially if they are warning before it is played.

Itvs problem what to do in the morning as citv is scheduled what do they do

Not really a problem, because even if they do an edition of GMB nobody will watch it as it isn't billed, whereas Breakfast is billed.

I can see them doing something at 9:25 though which is still early enough for a Sunday

I'm sure it still won't be good enough for many here though who think they should produce a 24 hour rolling news channel at a moments notice.

Amazing to think it's 12 years now since the news channel closed but when it did close there was a commitment to breaking news made, and on the whole they've punched above their weight in that regard but clearly there is now a weakness overnight - not necessarily always about resources too, sometimes when it's ITN v ITV the newsteam don't always get to do what they want to do. The complaints here though are because when ITV do get on air they're very good at rolling news - I always choose them over the BBC or Sky. There is also an expectation that at times of national significance ITV will cover the events as they unfold.

As for tomorrow if ITV did opt to put something out in the breakfast slot it wouldn't necessarily have to be GMB. They could just put out ITV News coverage - ITV News do air a bulletin within the slot most weekends at 8.25am, so at the very least they might go on air from then for the last hour of the slot.
