Haven't seen the live graphic on the right of the picture before as it was earlier (BBC). Would there be a reason for this?

The BBCWN live bug at the right is typically used for splitscreen with two live video feeds.
I guess it's just the switcher thing, when the left live bug is being used to another feed, they use the right one.

Mike Embley and Komla Dumor now dual-presenting BBCWN bulletin. I guess this will be somewhat of a smooth transition, as Komla maybe presenting the 5am BBCWN bulletin, I guess?

Been watching some of CNN Domestic's coverage on CNNi this morning. I don't really get the whole two presenters standing side by side on location thing, looks odd and feels awkward. They did something similar with Chris Cuomo and Anderson Cooper during the papal election and it didn't really work (and wasn't helped by the lack of chemistry between the pair of them).

Without wishing to undermine the seriousness of the news, but this being a tv geek forum, I feel I can ask this question:

Was World News', and the News Channel's performance of the coverage not rather hopeless and messy?

Yes, it happened quite late at night when there is lower staffing levels than in daytime.
Yes, it took everyone by surprise.

But,

Was this the 1st big, high profile, breaking, rolling news even that put Mosart to the test in a rolling environment?
Why were there so many simple technical faults?
Is Mosart too inflexible for anything more than an templated, clocked hour?

Why oh why didn't they just keep it simple.

BBC World News still carrying on with the Boston news.

EDIT: FBI conducting a live press conference right now.

Quite.

These kneejerk reactions always annoy the hell out of me.

I think you miss the point. It's not being done for 'the people of Boston' or anyone else, it will have been pulled because it would be in incredibly bad taste to show it.

It's a very sensible reaction - do you really think any channel would consider it a good idea to show a film about terrorists bombing a marathon... just after terrorists have bombed a marathon?

Can someone save that last sentence as a standard response to such reactions?

NBC reports seem to deny this though.
