So the BBC have played musical studios and presenters again for the BBC News special.

Interesting to see Yalda Hakim presenting the World News/News Channel simualcast. Shes obviously experienced with foreign news considering her old job, but I can't help thinking shes a bit 'awkward', anyone else get that feeling?

Yes, sad to say, I don't think her journalistic skills were paramount in the decision to employ her. It's the sort of thing you expect from American networks and Sky News. You'd hope the BBC wouldn't make recruitment choices on such superficial criteria, but it appears they might have in this case...

...still, maybe I'm being a bit harsh. She might improve...

From what I've seen of her reporting on location, she has been very good. And her interviewing is pretty strong as well. I'm sure her studio presentation will improve with time. And, I would't be quite so cynical about why she was hired...

I must say that I've been very impressed with the BBC's coverage of all of this, so far. They've made good use of the resources they have in America, and Katty Kay - I have the feeling that if we were still in TVC they simply wouldn't of had the studios and the like to produce something like this.

BBCWN (and BBC Four, I guess) is doing World News Today with Kasia Madiera now, but still with one news story.

Looks like NBC News' MCR's default output (breakfiller/breakdown) is the Rockefeller Center Skycam pointing at Studio 1a, its outdoor screens and the plaza.

It seems to be all kicking off again.

Laura Travellion doing a fantastic job anchoring from the scene.

I didn't know the BBC's Chris Buckler was out there. He's currently reporting from the scene.

NBC reporting that a body has been found in the boat. CNN saying the FBI believe him to be alive. Dominic Waghorn also saying reports coming out that the suspect has been killed.

Boston Globe: BREAKING NEWS: Police have taken the cover off the boat containing the man believed to be the Marathon bombing suspect. He's not moving.

Yes you could see that on the abc caption on BBC NEWS but BBC did not put it on their own captions.

Do the overnight team at Sky News not know how to operate the on screen astons? It seems to be after midnight half the time, with a big breaking news story - the output seems to be aston-less.

And now the ticker is jammed on yellow static.
