No Matt Lauer as he is still in Texas following yesterday's coverage of the fertiliser plant explosion. Savannah Guthrie doing a very good job covering events from New York.

And 65% of Americans are going to be somewhat happy that he got the wrong assignment.

CNN being very cautious this morning, understandable given what happened earlier this week..

Not exactly, they have acknowledged that they are from of Chechen origins and brothers... and "maybe" muslims.
But the reporter is saying that "they don't want to jump to those conclusions..."

uhh... by stating that they are Muslims, she is considering that their religion may be a factor, despite the fact that she mentioned that the "older brother" has "no friends in America!" (or other emotional/psychological factor of some sort...)

Yes but this happened like an hour or even 2 after the news broke on Twitter and some other media. Even BBC reported it long before them. They were very, very careful this morning. They also ignored the first reports about the suspects being Indian. They would jump on that immediately if it wasn't for that embarrassing experience 2 days ago.

I was able to watch for about 25 seconds before they went to a commercial break. Not bothering with NBC now.

CNN has been ad-free and really comprehensive today (or tonight, where I am).

I can't understand why you are praising a news organisation for not reporting unverified, false information.

I prefer NBC to CNN, but Savannah is being quite cautious as to what she is saying, even when she got that new information from the NBC Investigative journalist.

Well after they said the suspect is a dark skinned male and was arrested 2 days ago, this is a huge step forwards. This is where CNN DOMESTIC ( do not confuse it with CNNI which does not have gaffes like this) is at this moment.

Incidentally, the Today show is still continuing on NBC, with Savannah Guthrie now entering her sixth hour of live coverage.

Actually it's her seventh hour - they started an hour early, at 6am ET. She's been presenting almost single-handedly throughout. Very impressive.

Good going. Funny the way they introduce the TOTH as a split edition, despite the fact that Matt Lauer in Texas has hardly appeared at all.
