Reports ex CNN and relayed by ITN's Mark Austin ...

Suspect identified by CCTV and arrested.

NBC reports seem to deny this though.

Mark Austin is saying on Twitter that NBC are saying that the arrest reports should be treated with caution.

CBS also saying no arrest.

John Miller, their senior news correspondent reporting on the story,is a former assistant director of public affairs for the FBI.

Edit: CNN now backing down from their original reporting.

.... Story keeps moving, initial MA Tweet inferred possible arrest, now back tracking on that. BBC however online indicating arrest made. We'll know later, FBI News Conference due.

CNN is usually quite conservative in reporting something as true, aren't they? I've heard Americans say it's not true until it's on CNN.

Well I think their reputation has taken a bartering in recent years, the botched coverage of the Supreme Court decision on Obamacare a particular low-light.

Still, they did have two sources telling them that an arrest had been made so I can understand why they ran with it. They are now urging caution on air,

@AdamSerwer: CNN: "We should be a bit cautious until we actually know there's a suspect in custody." WHAT

Edit: only fair to point out that Fox News and the AP got it wrong as well.

According to the OED, that usage only applies in a commercial sense to goods as a separate word (the way you used it). No wonder David was confused, and thought it was another word to be added to the Book of DVB Cornwall Idiolect.

Can we please keep on topic? Thanks.

As for the coverage today - ITV in my opinion have been the best of the broadcasters, with much more insightful analysis of the footage that has been working its way onto the internet.

I think the BBC has had too much Thatcher coverage to beat ITV on this.
