I always like Ms Battista. She was from the era of CNN when news was the star and anchors were all consummate professionals. And they were across all stories domestic AND international inside and out. A smooth and literately unshakable anchor. I remember her covering countless breaking stories. Autocue or not. EFFORTLESSLY. She will be missed.

Very sad. She, along with so many others, was a victim of the dreadful turn CNN took after 9/11. (Remember Lou Waters?)

I know she did remain with the network for a few years after that, but was very much sidelined.

Sad to see her obituary on HLN: a network now filled with 'true crime' rubbish.

It and the parent network are completely unrecognisable from those days, and it's just tragic.
psi123 and Mouseboy33 gave kudos

And who could forget Jane Turner's amazing impression on the Aussie Comedy show Fast Forward?

Which im sure wasnt meant as a tribute and is probably not very appropriate to post since the woman has just died and her family is mourning her passing after a 4 year cancer battle.

Absolutely ridiculous assertion. Tributes and remembrances can come in many different forms. Bobbie became well known in Australia thanks to Jane Turner, it's a sign that she "made it" internationally, many people would like to bring attention to lighter or joyous moments that concerned her.

What was the American news anchor on the day today called? Always reminded me of her

Barbara something

Mouseboy: Your second sentence there is cliche bingo. What do folk actually MEAN when they say that? What are the oodles of news presenters today doing wrong compared to her? Just saying the line is empty comment.

Essentially that line is really “I miss x years ago”.

No offence, I’m sure you have your reasons. Just seen stuff like that so much and it made me snap.

Check the YouTube comments on some old BBC stuff to see what I mean Smile

Well I wasnt referring to anyone on the BBC or any other channel. I was actually speaking about CNN Domestic and their current crop of anchors/presenters. Especially when they have to speak on international stories or locations that dont have anything to do with US Politics. CNN's pre 9/11 anchor line-up covered actual news stories and FAR more international stories, hence the presenters were, IMO far more adept at speaking about these stories. The anchors now are basically debate moderators. Thats about it. Bobbie Battista was an example of news anchor with a depth of knowledge about all type of stories domestic and international, and I said that in tribute to her decades of work at CNN, CNN Headline News and CNNI. Not sure how a tribute to her work turned into a reason to become annoyed, but Im sure you have your reasons.

It wasnt a knock on any other channel. No reason to snap mate. Life is stressful enough as it is without snapping over a post. Very Happy

But that’s not necessarily the talent’s fault, but I take your points on format. Smile
