Agree with all you've said re: BBC World etc. too.
Especially though agree with the Ten o'clock News / Newsnight situation - it's always been ridiculous.
Though it wouldn't stop problems like last night, I do think generally speaking they should keep the 10pm news self contained so it ends before 10.30pm, and then viewers are advised to stay with BBC1 for regional news, switch to BBC2 for Newsnight or News 24 for the sport.
