1 dead parrot, in quarantine is diagnosed with Bird Flu in Britain.

The Department for the Environment, Fisheries and Food: The H5 strain of the disease was found, but has not said if it was the lethal H5N1 strain.

Debby Reynolds, UK chief veterinary officer explaned: "The confirmed case does not affect the UK's official disease free status because the disease has been identified in imported birds during quarantine."

Turkeys were flying off the shelves of Tesco this morning (not literally obviously). It seems people can't bare the thought of a possible Turkey- less Xmas.

The European Commision will decide on Tuesday whether to allow the importation of live birds.

Both ITV and SKY reported this with on-screen graphics but BBC 24 attempted numerous times to bring their graphics on but the breaking news part of it kept moving up and down to reveal only portions of text. The red bar kept moving up and down and attempting to reveal the breaking news but eventually they removed all the graphics and just read it out instead!

Quite scary news Dave, I saw News 24 report, rather quick too given their "record".

Yesterday on my usual view to Sainsburys some helpful women pointed out, at the meat deli "we're going to die of that chicken" I positivly flipped. It still takes a mutation of H5N1 to cause any real threat to humans, although most of the media, and I empathsise most, now seem to be cooling down a little...
