ITV News normally get it spot on for major incidents - but tonight it was awful. It felt more like an episode of Brass Eye!

Always unnerves me in situations like this how the media are sent to the area - surely they should be kept out!

I agree to some extent, the big guns like BBC national and ITV National news should kept out - and only the local TV news crews should be allowed in. If the Big guns want to cover the story, they should have to link up to their colleagues in the ITV Local News Network.

Therefore allowing the own journalists to cover more english/international based stories.

How apt!

Jackie "Bird" being sent to anchor that story live, and wearing a woolly hat so as not to catch "bird" flu'.

Other cases involved Chris Ship reporting on a small boat that sunk in the Irish Sea, I believe earlier this year and Dan Rivers ...well I think you can guess.

And then wouldn't there be a terrible outcry about the national news only covering English stories.....

When there's a big story of national, or international interest, the media descend on a place en mass. It's not pretty but to suggest censoring who can cover what seems to be something of an over-reaction.

More importantly I'd like to see someone try!

Next thing they'll be asking if Camilla & Charles should be spending their anniversary in Scotland if there's a risk of catching bird flu!

This isn't about censorship - it's about taking sensible protections to limit the spread of a disease. It's already been shown in France that the media have spread the disease across the country.

All it takes is one journalist to do a report in a bird-flu infected area one day, and then to visit a non-infected area the next.

Our Charles has handled a rottweiler in his time, I'm sure a dead swan won't put him off Laughing .

Many more birds that have been found are still being tested for H5N1, but reports are suggesting that if all other tests come out negative - this might just be an isolated case. Confused

Here's hoping.

Thanks Jane, but I'm guessing if people are posting in the newsroom , they've watched the news, and so hopefully already know. Let's keep it to how it affects TV presentation, eh?
