Didn't Anne Diamond read the afternoon news at one stage?

What happened with the camera? Did she say this live on air, or did she mutter this off air?

Good old Moira!!!

Time to bring the Queen back to the top of the forum. She had slipped down to page three for a while there. How's the campaign going to have her on BBC1 News on Christmas day?

She has already looked out her Santa outfit just in case!!

"I don't have time to read the news on Christmas Day!", says Moira, in the left-hand photo, below.

Someone asked above if Anne Diamond read the lunchtime news. Indeed she did!! When Moira was promoted from secondary presenter on News After Noon to sole presenter on the 540 Evening News (via the ghastly Sixty Minutes), BBC News After Noon actually continued for several months with a monthly or weekly rotation of regional presenters standing in alongside Richard Whitmore. These included the likes of Jane Franchi, Fern Britton, Linda Alexander and Anne Diamond. (See Anne below).

Eventually, the BBC opted for more regularity alongside Whitmore, and Sue Carpenter and Frances Coverdale (Frances below) became the regular co-presenters of News After Noon. Frances then moved onto the Six with Sue Lawley and Nicholas Witchell as stand in presenter in the same era as Jeremy Paxman (before Phil Hayton and Andrew Harvey became the regular stand ins).

It's great seeing Moira reading the Sunday lunchtime news bulletin now. I think we should definitely see more of her at the weekends. I don't see why she can't be allowed to present other weekend bulletins too...after all, she did during the 1993-1999 virtual era. I know she's not a "trained" journalist, but surely more than 20 years in the business and recognition from the Queen is enough to qualify her for a regular appearance?

I think her appearances should extend beyond Weekend Bulletins - why not have her on the Six alongside George or Huw? She is far more deserving than some I could mention.

I gather all you people in the Uk this week are excited by the prospect of a week of Six with Bill and Sian. I wish it was Bill and Moira, or Sian and Moira.

Unfortunately, I don't think Moira will ever move to BBC World. So, I am somewhat disappointed in that respect.

Bill was on Breakfast this morning so, unless Bill is gonna do another double shift, I presume Dermot will be doing the Six.

The Radio Times has it down as Bill and Sian.

Yeah. But I thought it was unlikely that Bill would do two (or more) double shifts in a week (presuming Bill does do Breakfast on Friday) but it seems I was wrong as Bill is on with Sian tonight! Razz

And so we see the return of the Bill Turnbull mega-shifts. The poor guy seems to have such an uneven presenting pattern. I wonder if he'll be back on Breakfast tomorrow as well? If he was to do Breakfast and the Six every day this week, that would surely be a new record!
