Moria presented on News24 during the summer of 2000. This was in the run up to the launch of Breakfast. News24 stopped doing it's own breakfast programme about April of 2000 and instead just did a basic news service repeated every half hour. Moria presented on this.

Moira involved in banter and chit-chat with fellow presenters????????? It cannot be true, surely. I would love to see that.

Moira brought us a very sombre version of her trademark "Morning to you" today before bringing us the sad news about Christopher Reeve. It was a bit like the 'Ballet ident' of "Morning To You"'s.

Just thought I'd share that.

I'll go now.

On the subject of sombre news.................

There are strong rumours circulating around my current location right now regarding a death in the ruling family, which will be a devastation in this part of the world.

The person in question has brought this particular state out of the dark ages into one of the most progressive and forward thinking Cities in the world.

Alas, sad news, but let's see how it is reported in the Media.

====

Moira Stuart - is one of the best voices on television for bringing in stories with an air of sensitivity and compassion. Her no nonsense style makes her stand out head and shoulders above the rest, I feel.

Again, I cannot reiterate it any more - please someone bring this lady back into mainstream TV News presentation.

Oh bless her! She was really suffering today with a very sore throat, but soldiered on through like the true pro that she is.

Don't forget... tonight, 9pm, BBC TWO Wink

EDIT: oops. It was Bill Oddie tonight on "Who do you think you are?". Moira must be on another week, unless I misinterpreted the MoS article and she won't actually be on the documentary at all?

I plan to have a national big moira day on that day. I'm conversing with LA county council to have the Hollywood sign changed for that particular day.

Looks like her cold's got the better of her as we had Gillian Whatsherface instead this morning. Sad

Gillian Joseph??

Poor Moira - Get Well Soon! Please come back to work quickly. Just bypass the Breakfast Studio and head straight to the set of the Six! Stay there with George and deliver the news to us nightly in your wonderful style. The best that BBC News has!!

Surely Moira will get back into mainstream TV News soon, and not finish her career on the dreadful Breakfast!

Is it true that she's 57 years of age? Surely not - it's 23 years since she first presented BBC News After Noon along with Richard Whitmore. She looks younger now than she did then.

I remember once on News After Noon they did a special report at the end of one bulletin where they ran a story about Moira's fan club in the Highlands of Scotland, where the entire village used to assemble in the local pub at 12:30 every day to watch her and Richard present the bulletin. The landlord would cry out every day: "OK, absolute silence please. Here's Moira coming on now". And the entire pub would sit in silence for 30 minutes whilst Moira read the news.

When the story was running on News After Noon, the BBC had Moira in an inset on screen, behind the news desk watching the piece, laughing her head off and being cajoled by Whitmore.

If i recall correctly, it was not when she was leaving NAN for the 5:40 or anything, or even her birthday, it was just a piece at the end of a regular bulletin on a regular day.

Good old Moira!
