I actually like the man in the middle! Of all those who is still currently on screen in the UK, no one beats Peter Sissons!
On an international scale - but still seen in the UK - Adrian Finighan and Zeinab Badawi are hard to beat!

Of the current crop of presenters I think all the main ones are pretty good at their jobs (unsurprisingly).
As far as I'm concerned though the best is Katie Derham; her delivery of the news is excellent and it's clear that she is genuinely a very nice person, which doesn't hurt when the hope is that people will be receptive to what's being said.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but also noteworthy is her co-presenter Alastair Stewart - an accomplished professional in all situations, be it a regional news programme, national news bulletin or through-the-night election coverage.
Jon Snow, despite the fluffs he may make, is also a personal favourite of mine. Ten years ago I'd rate Peter Sissons and Snow on the same level but I no longer favour Sissons as much as I used to. Whether that's a result of him being shunted into a small weekend afternoon slot (I never quite manage to see him on the BBC News channel at that time as it is) or his recently-acquired "bumbling" nature, I can't say...

Of the current selection of newsreaders, I would say Alastair Stewart is probably the best. He obviously can turn his hand to anything.
I would say my all-time favourite newsreaders are Michael Buerk and John Suchet. Both of them were cool and calm but had lots of authority. Peter Sissons was good on the BBC One news bulletins, but has sadly faded since he went to News 24.
