I can't see why they couldn't use it when they relaunched the Six as there was plenty room for a second person at the desk. In those days they also used to get the odd guest *in* the studio instead of doing everything on a two way. I prefer them being in the studio as "the news seems closer"

The current circular desks are impractical, as you can often see legs dangling behind it.

I agree with you both - the set above is clean, neat and uncluttered. God knows why they replaced it after such a relatively short time in use.

BRING BACK THE 1999 SET!

Yes it was crazy how they dumped it so quickly - I couldn't believe it when I first saw the replacement - it was supposed to be an improvement?!

The old set was so good I can't think of anything to better it, except I may have used a darker wood in the flooring... It really was impressive, and the red carpet offered it an air of grandeur - the colour of royalty on Her Majesty's Service Smile.
The designer must have been raging when they dumped it for the current shambles.

I'd bring it back in the morning if in position to do so. And look how much better News looks in 4:3 - stupid widesreen, I hate it for studio production, hate it! Mad

Breakfast News
Well i am no fan of Breakfast's sofa-driven look - the old set was far better - desk for news from 6-8, and sofa for news half-hour from 8 followed by some chit-chat.

The TV Room

I always thought it looked even better with the red walls in the newsroom at the very back. The entire thing just worked so well, and that backdrop of the newsroom, even doubled over as it was, is still in my opinion one of the best real newsrooms seen on screen in years.

EDIT: Actually, just checking The TV Room, I think the red walls are in that picture, just not very visible.

Always been torn between the original scheme and the redecorated red version Smile
The red panels looked great alright - gave it a real boost.
Such colours always work especially well in winter.

I liked it except for the camera angle on that picture. Got so boring!
