I liked the BBC News 24 flags studio, with the frosted glass pannels and a picture insert next to the presenter cleverly blended into the frosted glass.

I actually rather like the Channel4 News studio - a nice development on the 1999 design - although you can already see some scratches on the white pannel on the floor.

Yes, that looked good; but the flags were only in the glass panel for the overnight simulcasts with BBC World, in the day we were left with the remenants of somebody's greenhouse. Liked this set and the green sofas, though. Would have served the current BBC Brekkie show very well - could have easily used it for a seven day operation for the same set.

BBC News is steaming ahead! The other channels should buck their ideas up. Sky News is revamping after the election (allegedly) so ITV News may be trailing behind again!

I used to like the ITN News at Ten era with the fake London backdrop and illuminated cityscape. It was also a nice desk used during that era.

Yes ITN is just terrible, graphics and set.
Is it the fact that the set is CG that people find offensive, or just that particular design? Personally I hate both...

BBC is miles ahead from others, although agreed about Ch 4 being a nice spin on the previous set. Sky I've always found to be tacky - could never get used to it. I watch News 24 as much as for presentation as for content.

But it's not just the BBC's 'look' that shines, it's also the fanatastic production values - most perfectly demonstrated by the very end wide shot of the studio. The music fades in beautifully, the camera deflates at the most perfect speed, and comes to a gentle halt at the ideal moment.
The station's cueing, vision mixing and reports are all just superbly executed - a joy to watch Smile

I like ITV News set, but not the blue square backdrop or the graphics, it looks tacky. Music is quite nice.

C4 News definately has the best set, graphics, music etc.

BBC News' set on One is awful, as are the graphics, but News 24 and World have nice sets and music.

Sky, Five and Newsnights sets are all awful, although Sky News' and Newsnights music are good.

I think the 1999 BBC set was the best they've ever had - just magnificent. The deep red carpets, the downlighters, the sweeping metal railings, the elegantly sculpted, almost classical off-white walls....
I cried when they ditched it Sad

And for what, a nasty morgue of a place, cold and austere with B&Q flooring Mad

Plus there was the fabulous original brekkie set

Not like that dump they have now.

Yes I liked this set the most to be honest. I think the cream and red style presentation was appropiate for BBC News. Now though I think that the set looks out of place with the titles - you have black and red titles and then a light coloured background. Probably the worst set we've seen in a while.
As for Breakfast, I preferred the second set where they were on the sofa with the plant pots and the news summary came from the N24 studio.

Don't think those summaries actually DID come from the N24 studio. I think they just used and N24 graphic drop-in behind Moira, and split screen handovers, but in reality Moira was still sitting at her usual desk (as shown above), just a few yards from Sophie and Jeremy.

Similar to what is currently done on Frosty. She is not in the newsroom, but just behind Frosty' set in the same studio.
