Who are the best news-partners? Is a double-act best, or are Sky right to mix between single presenters, double acts, and three-people presentation?

I liked Charlotte Hawkins and Glenn Thomsett on Meridian's East service before they started to mess about with it. Thought he was a good replacement for Geoff Clark when he left for the BBC.

Fred Dineage and Debbie Thrower.
Still going strong after all these years

On BBC News:
Jon Sopel and Louise Minchin
Simon McCoy and Kate Silverton
Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams (until Sian left for the Six last year)

I find that regional presenters work well together, especially in the past. Having watched no other - Mike Embley and Gwenan Edwards, with Rob Bonnet as sports presenter. Made it worth watching.

Those ITN pairings were my favourites . Alistair Burnett and Sandy Gall.
Reggie Bosenquet was an interesting character too.

I would say that the best all time pairing were Reggie Bosequet and Anna Ford

I agree, Reggie & Anna for the 1980s, but more recently I think Bill Turnbull & Sian Williams have the best on-screen chemistry and can switch between serious and light fairly quickly.

Mark Austin & Mary Nightingale also make quite a good partnership on the ITV Evening News.

I miss Mark and Nina, the chemistry was good and Felicity and Mark are good together on ITV News (thinking of the 'shocking violence' at the end of the EN a couple of weeks ago).

What shocking violence???

Bill and Sian are great. You get the feeling they like each other, and there is no point scoring going on because they are both thoroughly competent and professional journalists - as well as being warm and funny people when they moment is right.

Jane Hill and David Robertson were great viewing back in the day when News 24 had its own breakfast show - though not always for the right reasons.

To get back to the question....take a look at Meridian Southeast via ITV Local (click on Hastings and then News) - Charlotte and Phil reign supreme!

Surely Bob Warman and Jo Malin feature somewhere in this! Their onscreen banter is quite funny sometimes, especially when Jo picks on Bob!!!!
