I see as usual all other news has been ditched, in favour of now nothing more than endless speculation. Are the BBC and Sky actually capable of covering more that one thing at a time ?

Well the BBC are simulcasting on World so domestic stories shouldn't feature. Domestic stories do however feature on the multiscreen, pity they can't run their own ticker tho.

Would I be correct in thinking that when stories like this break we just see looping shots from the scene rather than the presenters because the presenters are ad-libbing and gathering information themselves from whatever sources they have, possibly with a producer on set, and obviously its easier to do this without having to worry about looking at the camera.

News 24 could at least drop the red ticker and put other stories on that. It's pointless duplicating the info on the main strap.

Well, then they should stop simulcasting, and break away for 'domestic news', they're hardly going to miss anything compelling on the 'World' output. And what's Sky's excuse ?

Sad news, and what an awful way for a great woman to die.

Typically, the BBC and Al Jazeera have covered this very well, Sky doing OK, and ITV doing a bit rubbish. I haven't seen anything on C4 or Five - was there any mention of it on those channels?`

People will be tuning into News 24 for this story, not domestic news. Just look at the top 4 stories on the BBC News homepage, all about this attack. There is no need for domestic stories really when there are alternatives such as the multiscreen and website.

Yea I agree - if any story warrants blanket coverage and an international broadcast, this is it.

People in the UK who want home news can use the website, interactive or just wait until the national and regional news at 6 o'clock.

Blanket coverage of what exactly ? She's been killed, and that's it. Everything since has been nothing but speculation, world leaders saying it's an outrage, and going over the same ground over and over again.

At least we know how much of an arrogant swine you are. IF you want UK news, as someone said, watch your region later. This is more important.

Domestic news including what exactly? If you don't like blanket coverage, maybe rolling news channels aren't for you, and you should seek alternative ways of getting news - plenty exist.

Oh, mild abuse now, very impressive arguing skills.

You say it's important, which it undoubtedly is, but who decided it should override all other stories today, some of which have far more relevance for the bulk of the UK audience. Anyway, I'm glad to hear a far better sense of proportion for the news agenda on Radio 4 at the moment.

If you think the assassination of a political figure has no implications then you are sadly mistaken.

For what it's worth though I agree there is no reason they can't break away from the story for 5-10 minutes at the end of each hour, and incorporate further stories on the ticker.

And simulcast or not - BBC World viewers could just put up with a few minutes of domestic news. Considering they'd chosen to get their news from the BBC, I don't think they'd be an issue.
