Yes no need for music.

Thanks for that, Stevie. I'm surprised they used music - traditionally news reports have just had a silent static slide to introduce them.

Indeed, the Christmas tree has been sawed.

Yea I agree - maybe it'll be gone by the time of the next presenter shot as there has been nearly 10 minutes of continuous latest pictures now.

Penguins before, or what?
Static slide straight after the film, then Snowball into Wallace & Gromit:

A good, informative news report on BBC One then for those who are not watching the news channels.

How did News 24 get rid of the tree so quickly? Is it on wheels or something? And do we think it'll be back before its due to be taken down?
NA
They had 45 minutes to simply move it out of shot. There was a shot of Tim and Mike at 2:15, then 45 minutes of continuous latest pictures before the presenters were seen again just after 3.
I doubt it'll be brought back now for News 24 viewers.

IIRC as part of the 1999 revamp for a News Report they just began with a simple "BONG" - which I think was quite effective both in respecting the story and also highlighting the ITV News brand.
P.S. Just shows how the absence of a 24-hr news channel makes ITV look pathetic in cases like this. Not even a mention of the itv.com website at the end of the report, just a message to get the latest at 6.45pm!
