This is the best way, with only one correspondent out in Pakistan, Babara Plett, it would have meant the two channels fighting for live interviews and analysis with her.
Moving to the World Newsroom, why are these simulcasts in N8 and not N9?
itsrobert posted:
The reason for simulcasting is so they aren't duplicating resources. What's the point of both BBC News 24 and BBC World providing their own coverage and having to fight with each other for correspondents and guests? They may as well team up and provide one service, especially since there's no real reason for UK viewers to have a different angle/explanation than BBC World viewers.

As World viewers don't pay for the BBC why should we give a damn? It's Christmas here, either accept that or turn over to CNN!

I can't help finding the big Christmas tree in the background extremely grotesque during this BBC News Special about Mrs Bhutto's death broadcast to the world.
Moving to the World newsroom would have been a better choice IMO.

I agree Moz, why should we take down a tree to celebrate Christmas because of a sad story like this or because viewers around the World might see it. Tim just slipped up "here on BBC World"

I guess in part it's a case of which BBC News studio is best equipped for dealing with rolling coverage and any developments, particularly over the Christmas holiday period were there is likely to be fewer staff present (though technically today is a normal working day). Also if BBC One/Two were to simulcast some of the bulletin it provides 'familiarity' for UK viewers compared to using the World studio.

It's not a problem of being politically correct, offending traditions and crap like that: I just think serious news should be covered in a proper way, and not from under a Christmas tree. This counts for both Britain and the rest of the world.

The BBC lunchtime news mentioned her death at the end of the broadcast.
Not on BBC NI they didn't the most we heard was that she was possibly seriously injured.
Fiona Bruce went back to the correspondent in Pakistan at the end of the bulletin for the news that she had died. Mark Longhurst broke the news on Sky at 1.24.
Not on BBC NI they didn't .Early reports she was injured then local news then into film (George of the Jungle]

I'm in the BBC NI signal and i saw Fiona Bruce returning to the correspondent at the end of the 10 minute bulletin to announce that Bhutto had died, however the reporter stressed it was unconfirmed. Then Fiona handed over to local news. Hence we have not had a news flash report on BBC 1 or 2 because her death was announced already.
